Carl's pov
Daryl came into my room and said,
"Come on, man up. You can't run or lock yourself away from your problems, so let Rayne in, or you'll face my wrath."
"Ok." I said. And after that, the day was pretty good, except for Beth trying to be a homewrecker.
I explained to Rayne that Beth came onto me, which she did, and Rayne was surprisingly calm about it all. We talked out the issues between my mom and I, which made me feel a lot better. I'm starting to fall for Rayne and I'm ok with that. I just need to get it through Beth's head that I don't like her in that way, which will be one heck of a task.
Rayne's pov
"Rayne, can you come with me to talk to my parents?" Carl asked me and I nodded, after last night's talk it seemed like he got over his silent phase.
"Of course." I said and we went to find Lori first. She and Rick were in the kitchen talking to each other. Carl and I came around the other side of the counter and Carl told Lori and Rick the exact same thing he told me last night.
"I was so scared you hated me for this." Lori said and hugged him. They had a family moment together, and it was really touching.
"See, that wasn't so hard." I said and he nodded.
Carl and I decided to go outside to the lake. We sat down, hand in hand, this is our place. I sat my weapons down and he put his hands around me and I put my head on his shoulder. We stayed like this for the longest time until we heard a scream. We got up and ran to the scream, the scene was chaotic. Dale had been bit and now the walker was eating him. I shot an arrow through the walkers head, seeing as we were the first there.
"Oh my God." I said freaking out. Dale's guts were ripped out. Daryl was the third one to show and he just stared, not knowing what to do either. Hershel came by next, and he seemed calm enough to still have coherent thoughts. Surprisingly Rick nor Shane showed.
"What can we do?" I asked Hershel tugging on his sleeve.
"Nothing, he's already too far gone." Hershel said, Carl sucked in a deep breath and Daryl aimed for Dale's head.
"Sorry brother." He said and then shot him.
I stood there in shock and we all just looked at Dale, I may not have known him real well, but he seemed like a level-headed, down to earth person. We all walked up to the house in silence when we heard a gunshot. We turned our heads and waited for any more. We heard none and we walked into the house, I laid my weapons by the door like always and sat down in the living room. What was going on?
Rick came through the door next and he was all bloody, his nose was bleeding and so was his cheek. I gasped and Carl asked what happened. Rick said that he was out with Shane and Shane had tried to kill him, so Rick shot him, in the head, that's two deaths in one day. That's a lot. We now needed a funeral for Otis, Dale and Shane. I think I know what we're doing tomorrow.
I closed my eyes and rested my head on my hand. Carl had come over and pulled me into him, this had been a really long day. I was getting a little tired and I yawned. Everyone had gathered in the living room for a meeting. It wasn't really a meeting, everyone just came and sat down. All of the couples seemed to be extra cuddly tonight, Rick and Lori were hugging and cuddling, it was kinda cute. Glenn and Maggie were doing the same thing. My mom and Daryl were even cuddling, if we weren't in the middle of an apocalypse, I would take a picture. The only thing me and Carl weren't doing was kissing like everyone else, we just weren't comfortable enough yet.
Hershel had said that it was a long and stressful day, so he brought out the wine and beer. Thanks, Hershel. Everyone grabbed one, except for Carl, Beth and I. Me and Carl just kinda looked around. About fifteen minutes, everyone was totally wasted. I guess that's one way to deal with your feelings.
Everyone was getting emotional, declaring their love over and over again, like it was their last night.
After about five minutes of Hallmark, people started going upstairs and so did I. I locked the door and got changed, unlocked the door and laid in bed. Later I heard Carl come in and get changed. He got in beside me and didn't turn the light off. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me closer.
"This was one messed up day." He said and I nodded.
"I know, we were so close to Dale when that happened, we could've saved him, don't you think?" I asked.
"I don't think we would've made it in time. It would've been nice to, but I just don't think we could've."
"I wish we could save everyone."
"Me too, but, life isn't fair."
"Did Beth really come onto you?" I asked, my insecurities coming to the front of my mind.
"Yes, she came in, and told me that her and I should be together, she said that she thought that she was better for me. I told her to get lost, and that's when you started calling for her down the hall. She grabbed my face and forced herself onto me. I swear that's what happened."
"I believe you, it's just that she's never been like this, we've been friends since kindergarten."
"Maybe she's stressed that if you and I are together, she'll lose you."
"Maybe. But she's pushing me away by doing things like that.
"Well then we're gonna have to tell her what's going on, because I don't want you two to fight."
"Then we'll do that. Hopefully it all works out." I said.
