Back at their desks, Jones said to his partner, "Alright Marie, let's regroup what we know so far. We have a kid shot dead in the middle of Cooper Park."
"He stole a pair of cufflinks from Alden Greene and I think he may have kept other items from previous robberies at his house. So I think we should investigate there," Marie said and Jones nodded in agreement.
Jones then suggested that they talk to Alden's head of security Noah Richards and ask if he saw nothing suspicious. Marie then remembered something and said, "I also heard that Julian's father wanted to talk to us. If my memory serves me correct his name is Edward Ramis. We should probably hear what he has to say." And afterwards they left the station to look for more clues on the case.
The first thing Jones and Marie decided to do was check out the Stewart residence. When they got there, they started to search around until Marie found a box that's full of papers. Getting curious, Jones turned to Ramona and asked, "Excuse me Miss Stewart, do you know what's inside this box my partner found?"
The girl then broke out in a sweat and said to them, "It's nothing really, just some girl stuff. Could you give it back to me please? I've never really intended for anyone to look through it."
"Sorry Miss Stewart, but we have policy to look through every possible lead; I'm sure will understand," Marie explained to the girl and she nodded giving them permission to look through the box.
Marie then dumped the box's contents and she started to rummage through them. Suddenly, Marie found a pair of golden earrings and she smirked and said, "First a pair of golden cufflinks and now a pair of golden earrings. It's no wonder Ramona didn't want us to look through her box."
"It looks like they came from one of Freddy's recent robberies. We should check them through our database and see if they match any of the items that was reported stolen in the neighborhood." And Marie placed them in a bag and soon the two of them headed back to the station.
Once they got back to the station, Marie scanned the earrings into her computer and when they showed up on her computer she started to rub her eyes. Getting worried, Jones asked, "Are you okay Marie?"
"I'm fine. My eyes are just bothering me. I think I should switch them out," Marie told him and Jones thought, switch out what.
Suddenly, Jones saw Marie take out contact lenses from her eyes and she took out an eyeglasses case and took a pair of glasses out and placed them on her face. Jones then went wide-eyed when he saw his partner put glasses on and he thought, she where's glasses?! Damn, she gets cuter day by day. Marie saw her partner's face, smiled at him and said, "I bet you're surprised huh David? Sometimes my contacts bother me, so I have to switch to my glasses."
"I just had no idea! You look good in them," Jones said and Marie giggled at his compliment.
Soon, Marie started to compare the earrings with other earrings in the database. Afterwards, Marie found a match and to her surprise, the earrings that were found in Ramona's box were stolen a couple months ago. Jones then scrunched his face and said, "No wonder she didn't want us to look through her box. I suggest we have another chat with her." And Marie highly agreed to his idea.
Back at the Stewart residence, Jones showed the girl the earrings they found and said to her, "We've found stolen jewelry amongst your things Ramona. I suggest you stop your little game now and start explaining things to us."
Ramona then broke out into a sweat and stuttered, "Wh-what game? I already told you, I know nothing! Freddy must've hidden them in there..."
Marie then rolled her eyes and shouted, "Oh for the love of God! Cut the crap Ramona, your brother's dead! So it's high time that you quit this charade! Did you participate in your brother's robberies or not?!"
