A week later after the Jacob Dawks case, both Jones and King were preparing themselves. In his office, King was making reservations at the restaurant Levin's where Jones and Marie solved the Russian mobster case so afterwards he can take Marie there and tell her he was her grandfather afterwards. Meanwhile, Jones was looking at brochures of historical places in the Historical Center hoping to take Marie on a date to one of them. Suddenly, Jones caught site at the museum brochure and he saw that it was unveiling a new exhibit in a few days.

After looking at it closely, Jones smiled to himself and thought that this is the place that he's gonna take her. Soon as Jones figured out his plans, his lunch break had already started. He looked across to Marie's desk and was about to ask  her if she can join him, but he saw her chair empty and pushed into the desk. Just then Jones saw Alex walking by and he asked him, "Hey Alex, do you know where Marie is?"

"Yes I do. She went to the park to have her lunch outside since it's so nice out today since winter has already passed us," Alex told him and Jones thanked the tech guy and headed towards the park.

Just as Jones got there, his eyes started looking around for Marie until he found her sitting underneath one of the trees. As he approached her, his eyes traced Marie's image as he saw her sitting on the grass in her police uniform, but also a navy blue skirt that reached her knees and he looked down and saw she wasn't wearing her shoes and she was sitting in the grass barefoot. Marie looked up when she saw Jones approach and she slid a little bit to give him room to sit by her.

As soon as he was close enough, Jones sat by his partner and took out his lunch. Marie asked him, "So, what did you bring for lunch David?"

"Just a store bought lunchbox. I'm not much of a cook so I usually by my lunches. Plus, I'm trying to preserve my money since I bought that clock from Galloway's shop this week. It basically cost me my whole salary, not to mention half of my rent this month. But I'll get through somehow," Jones explained.

After he told Marie what he had, Jones asked what she brought and Marie opened up her container and told him that she brought homemade chicken salad that she prepared the night before. Jones looked at his partner's food and marveled at how delicious it looked with the spinach greens and the tomatoes, shredded cheese and grilled chicken pieces mixed into them. Marie jabbed her fork into the salad and held it out for Jones and asked him, "Do you want a taste David?"

Jones blushed red from his face to his ears when she asked him and he happily obliged and ate the salad off of the fork. As he was chewing, Jones' eyes went wide when he felt the salad's flavor burst in his mouth. Once he swallowed, Jones asked Marie, "What kind of dressing is in that? It tastes really good!"

"It's a sesame vinaigrette that I made to go with the salad," Marie said with a smile as she picked up a portion for herself and ate it.

As he was watching her eat, Jones went red when he watched Marie place the fork in her mouth and he thought, my mouth was just on that?! So it's basically an indirect kiss! Suddenly, he saw Marie hold out another portion for him and he happily ate it off of her fork. As soon as they were done eating their lunches, Jones plopped his head on Marie's lap and looked up at the sunlight shining through the newly blossomed trees. He then felt a wind blow through and he looked up to see it blow through Marie's blonde hair and he smelt the scent of vanilla coming off of it.

Jones then lifted his hand and placed it on Marie's cheek, smiled up at her face and said, "It seems to be a perfect day to hang out outside and have lunch on the grass doesn't it Marie?"

Marie placed her hand on his and was about to say something, when Jones' cellphone started to ring and he quickly sat up to answer it. Once Jones answered it, Chief King on the other end asked if Marie is with him and Jones told him she is. After Jones told him that, King told Jones that a woman found the body of her nephew in her attic and he wants Jones and Marie to go there straight away. After Jones hung up, he looked at Marie and told her, "Well, it seems like we'll have to enjoy the fresh air some other time partner. A new case just opened up at Mrs. Taylor's house."
