(AN: Here's a song that's right for this moment. It's up above. Enjoy😜)
For the next couple months, Marie continued taking therapy while being on suspension. Marie's therapist asked Marie questions on what she saw when she was a child and how it made her feel. The first week, she asked her what her family life was like before the murders happened and Marie used coloring materials to draw a colorful rainbow. She then asked Marie what her life was like after the murders and Marie took gray and black crayons and made a gray and black rainbow. The therapist looked at both of the drawings and saw that the colorful rainbow meant Marie was happy before, but then the gray rainbow meant her life was now sad and miserable.
The next week, the therapist gave Marie a bunch of Barbie dolls and asked her what she saw when her mother was raped. Marie took one of the dolls and took it's clothes off and she took the clothes off of the other ones and she used the dolls to hit the one doll she stripped first. Marie then took one of the male dolls and she used it to knock the three naked dolls off of the other naked doll. The therapist then took notes about what Marie had seen. She then gave Marie a red marker and paper and asked her what she saw when her parents were murdered.
Marie then drew red lines on the sheet of paper and she said, "Blood. Lots of blood." And the therapist took more notes down on what Marie had seen.
A month later, the two of them started doing exercises to help Marie improve her reactions when someone dies in front of her. They practiced with party poppers so Marie can improve her reaction against gunshots. At first, Marie flinched and covered her ears, but slowly her mood improved. Next, they practiced with dummies and the therapist instructed her to imagine them as alive people, but then they suddenly died. Marie did what she said and she started to back away into a corner and curl herself up in a ball.
Over the next few weeks, they kept on practicing and Marie's attitude on people dying in front of her improved. The therapist then showed her films on people killing others or people killing themselves so she would know what to do and how to react in a similar situation and at the end of most of them everything turned out good, but some of them Marie flinched and reacted at the characters decision cause it reminded her on what she did to Scott Greene. After a while, Marie improved and she understood what she must do.
A month later, Marie talked with the therapist on what she saw and why she became a police officer. She then explained about how after her parents died, she lived with her nana until Marie's sophomore year and her nana died a few months later of Lou Gehrig's. Marie then told her about the bullying and his hurtful it was to her, but it changed when she met April and to of them became best friends. Marie then told her what hurt her the most, was seeing her father die first when she looked over her mother's shoulder and then when her mother hid her she fell down dead next.
Marie kept on having nightmares night after night cause the image burned into her head and she wished she saw the faces of the people who did kill them. But all she remembers was a fancy S on the cloaks they wore and that's that. The therapist then looked at her and asked, "A few months ago when you joined the police force, did you feel comfort around the people around you?"
"Some of them I did, but some I didn't. I made some really good friends while serving the police force and they all helped me. To me, they're like my long lost family that I wish I knew about sooner. There's Grace with her kind heart, Alex with his geekiness, Nathan who always helped with the bodies and weapon, Ramirez with who is so silly at times, Chief King who leads all of us like a father or grandfather," Marie told the therapist.
The therapist then asked, "What about David Jones? What dies he mean too you?"
"David is my partner and my best friend and I love him so much to not be away from him now. Even if
I were to be transferred somewhere next year and I found someone new, I'll know David will always be the first in my heart. Like how my mother was the first in my father's heart, the boy my nana met when she was in college was the first in his and even back in the time of my great-grandmother. I never want to give up the love I have for my friends; especially David," Marie explained while the therapist was listening with a small smile on her face.
