Chapter 48: Good Girls Don't Die-Part 3

At the station, Ramirez delivered the victim's clutch bag to Grace and Marie. After Marie dug through it, she pulled out a medical card to an abortion clinic which told Grace and Marie that Abagail was pregnant but she terminated it. Soon it got the two women curious about Martha Price since her whole campaign was centered around chastity and criminalization abortion and they realized that something dark is happening in the case and they have to figure it out soon.

After they heard the news, the two women were at the Vallez mansion when Grace exclaimed, "Marie I can hardly believe what I know so far! First our victim was pregnant and then she got an abortion! It's so much to cope with for a teenage girl! And Martha Price's campaign is clearly anti-abortion. So, I can't see how she would allow her underage daughter..." And Grace paused not finding the right words to say.

Marie shrugged and said, "Well whatever happened, I hope the poor girl didn't have to go through such a horrible experience on her own. In fact, this may be the key to figuring out Abagail's death! Let's find Martha and try to get the whole truth out of this time! Plus, since the victim's clutch was found around this mansion, there may be other clues that we missed. So let's check around the fountain after we're done talking to Martha."

As soon as they arrived at Martha's campaign office, Marie asked her secretary if Martha is in and the secretary told the female officer that Martha just came back from an acupuncture session that's used to relieve back pain that's caused by high heels. The secretary told Grace and Marie that Martha was waiting for them in her office and soon the two women proceeded. Once they confronted her and Marie told Martha that they now know everything, the woman let out a long sigh and looked down sadly.

Martha then said, "So you now know everything huh? I should've known that I couldn't keep my daughter's secret from you Inspector Marie, but please don't ask me about it anymore."

"We understand that this is heartbreaking for you Mrs. Price. You have not only lost a child, but a child that went through a very difficult experience," Grace said.

Martha scrunched her eyes and exclaimed, "Difficult?! It was impossible! When I learned of that pregnancy, Abagail came to me for advice and the only advice I could give was to get it aborted! But what choice did I have?! Her life would've been ruined and my campaign along with it! Can you even imagine if either my voters or Serena Johnson had found out?!"

Marie was about to say something, but Martha asked her if they could leave before things got too out of hand. As they were leaving, Grace exclaimed angrily, "What the hell happened in there?! How can Mrs. Price put her own career first before her own daughter!"

"Careful Grace, don't let your anger blind you. And anyway, we should out this enquiry to rest if we talk to Serena Johnson. Who knows what she might've been capable of in exposing the Price's secrets," Marie said as they were exiting the building.

As soon as they got back to the marina, Serena saw the two women and asked, "Welcome back ladies. What are you doing here?"

Marie then said to her, "We're trying to figure out why Abagail Price got pregnant Mrs. Johnson. Do you know?"

After she asked that, Serena frowned and said, "You're still trying to figure out how that little tramp got herself pregnant? Sorry Inspector, but I can't seem to help you with that. But I am looking forward the press divulging into her dirty little secret. As they say, in death all our mistakes are revealed!"

"Well I'm "sorry" to tell you this, but you shan't have that satisfaction. It turns out Abagail wasn't pregnant at the time of her death," Grace told the old woman.

Serena then bursted out in laughter and she said, "You mean she got rid of it! That's perfect! That will show the Prices in an even worse light! I can see the headlines now; the anti-abortion politician who..."
