She's The Only One That Gets Me (A Rilaya Story ♡)

Chapter 7.

Wednesday, 3:30pm.
School just ended so the friends went to Topanga's after school like they always do, things have been great between Riley and Maya. The only thing is that they can't help but feel bad that they haven't told the rest of the group yet. Riley really isn't ready to tell them yet and Maya either. It's not like they are embarrassed, they just don't know if they'll understand. Farkle is very understanding, he's always been this way for as long as Maya and Riley have known him. He's just overall one of the greatest people you will ever meet and whatever it is you tell him, he really tries to understand first instead of judging right away which is something they've always admired about him.

Riley: Guys do you know what's coming up soon?!
Zay: Christmas, we know.
Riley: annnd if Christmas is coming up what else is?
Smackle: Secret Santa
Riley: YES!
Maya: Riles, we really gotta do this every year?
Lucas: Of course, its Riley's favorite thing to do at this time of the year.
Maya: Yeah I know that Huckleberry but okay fine, I'll do it for you Riles
Riley: Thanks Maya, don't worry it'll be fun I promise
Maya: Well if you say so.
Farkle: Hey Maya, can I talk to you outside for a minute?
Maya: Right now? I haven't even got my hot chocolate yet
Farkle: Now. please.
Maya: Okay Mr.Serious let's go.

Farkle's POV.
I know that it takes Riley long sometimes to open up about things that she doesn't understand like when she was getting bullied. She tends to think that when it's something she's going through, she needs to figure it out her own but what she doesn't realize is when she's going through something hard, she should tell her friends because that's what we're here for. Good and bad times. She's always there for us but never gives us the chance to do the same.

Maya: So? What's up?
Farkle: Why didn't you tell me about You and Riley?
Maya: Farkle, not right now.
Farkle: No I think right now is the perfect time
Maya: I'm sure Riley told you everything already, why do you need to talk to me about this too?
Farkle: Because you aren't Riley. You and Riley are two different people remember? You're my friend too and I want to hear your side of the story.
Maya: Okay well about 3 weeks ago, Riley told me she liked me and I didn't know what to think but I told her I would always be there for her like I always am you know? So then a few arguments happened until the big one and that's when I confessed and told her I used to like her months ago when she first started liking Lucas.
Farkle: You liked her months ago? Damn it Maya. Why did you feel like you couldn't tell me any of this? I don't understand you guys.
Maya: I wanted to tell you, I really did but I came up with the stupid idea to just let the feelings go away and..
Farkle: Did they ever go away?
Maya: I guess so then they came back recently.
Farkle: When you guys kissed or before that?
Maya: Um before that, I think the feelings have always been there but I tried my best to forget them until Riley told me she liked me and then they instantly came back even though I tried to deny it.
Farkle: Ugh I can't be mad at you anymore because this is all just really kind of cute I have to say.
Maya: Wow thanks, I really am sorry I didn't tell you.
Farkle: It's okay, I know that it takes some time to open up about certain things but next time I hope you feel like you can tell me because you can tell me anything Maya.
Maya: I know and I will next time. Thanks Farkle.
Farkle: Okay good, ready to go back in and get your hot chocolate?
Maya: Ah, Yes you always read my mind

Riley asks what took them so long and Maya explains that it was nothing and hurries to get the hot chocolate she's been wanting for the past hour.
They all finish their drinks and homework then head home. Maya goes to Riley's house to help her decorate her Christmas tree.

Riley and Maya start pulling out the decorations and started playing Christmas music to get in the spirit. Riley loves Christmas more than any other holiday, Maya's never said this but Riley really makes her like Christmas more. Christmas in Maya's house wasn't always great but coming to Riley's house for a few hours made everything seem okay for awhile and it actually felt like Christmas for Maya. They continue to decorate and sing along to Christmas music. Riley stops singing and says they should take a break.

Maya: But we just started decorating
Riley: Let's do something else
Maya: Okay and what do you suggest we do?
Riley: Hmm how about we get a snack?
Maya: Yes! I love snacks

Riley and Maya eat their snacks and then go into Riley's room. They sit in the window and Maya tells Riley about the conversation her and Farkle had today. Riley knew that Farkle would've wanted to talk to Maya about it sometime, he always wants to know both sides of the story to really understand where they are both coming from and it just shows how much he really cares equally for both of them.

Riley: Since Farkle was so cool about it, do you think we should tell everyone else soon?
Maya: Um sure.
Riley: You don't want to.
Maya: It's not that.
Riley: Then what is it?
Maya: I just like how things are, I really do and I don't want anyone to come in with their judgment and make you change your mind like Lucas is probably gonna hate me after. I don't wanna ruin our group.
Riley: Maya, Nothing and nobody could ever make me change my mind about you and you won't ruin the group, the fact that you even think that makes me sad. We all love you, especially me. No one could break us apart.
Maya: I love you a lot and thank you for everything, really. I've been meaning to ask this but the time was never right but I think it might be now so here goes. Umm okay. Will you um... be my girlfriend? It's okay if you say no really I'll be okay with that I mean um I'm gonna stop talking.

Riley laughs at Maya's nervousness and grabs her chin and then kisses her. Riley thought to herself that out of all the times they kissed, this was definitely their best one. Maya pulls back and says "Okay so what's your answer?" Riley smiles at her and says "Yes. I'll be your girlfriend" Maya kisses Riley right away after she says Yes. Maya could hardly help herself from smiling because she's wanted to be with Riley for so long and now Riley wants to be with her too. Maya still has a bit of worry that when they tell everyone else, someone's not gonna like it but for right now, she's just focused on her happiness, for once she's not gonna let the thought of others affect her happiness and neither will Riley.
