Chapter 19.

Maya's POV.
Does Riley think I want to keep running away? I have no choice... Fine, maybe I do? But it feels like I don't. I wish I could talk to someone who would understand.

Instead of going back to Farkle's house, Maya decides to go to her house to see if Shawn is there because he's usually there on the weekends since on weekdays he's always busy with work. Maya arrives at her house, puts her key in the door and walks in. She doesn't see her mom anywhere and she definitely doesn't see Shawn so she checks upstairs, still no one. Maya assumes they aren't home so she starts packing more clothes. She already didn't want to come back home and seeing that nobody was home gave her a sign that she should just stay away even longer but as she kept packing, her mom walked in.

Katy: Maya, You're back?
Maya: Nope, just getting more clothes. Don't worry, your un-normal daughter will be gone in less than 10 minutes.
Katy: Maya I didn't mean that. I tried calling to apologize but you didn't answer and I texted too but I guess you didn't see them.
Maya: I saw them, is that really what you call an apology? "Maya where are you? I'm sorry" "Maya answer your phone right now!" "Maya I'm taking away your phone when you get home!" Sincere apology, Mom.
Katy: Look, I'm trying so hard to fix this. Maya I'm sorry. I love you, please don't leave again.

As Maya looks at her moms puffy eyes, she realizes how much she's been worrying her but as much as she wants to forgive her, She still isn't ready to come back home.

Maya: I'm sorry but I still need to figure some things out and I can't do that here.
Katy: Okay fine but before you go, please know that I love you and I just want you to be happy. It doesn't matter to me if you like girls or boys! I was just surprised but then I realized that when you told me about you and Riley, you've never looked happier and as a mother, all I could ever want is for you to be happy. I'm so sorry if I made you think otherwise.
Maya: I love you too mom, You have no idea how much I needed to hear that.

Maya and Katy hug each other tight, Maya lets go quickly when she hears a familiar voice saying "Am I interrupting something here?" She hurries to hug Shawn and he holds her tight as he spins her around.

Maya: Where have you been? I missed you so much.
Shawn: I missed you too kiddo. Your mom told me you've been at Riley's house but I just
went over there to find you so we could hang out! It's been too long.
Maya: It has! I want to see everything you've been working on. Didn't you go to LA a few weeks ago? I would love to see all the photos you took.
Shawn: Of course, we have a lot to catch up on! Where do you wanna go?
Maya: Um we could go to that small restaurant by the movie theater.
Shawn: The Italian one? I love that place! Let's go.
Maya: Yay!
Shawn: Honey do you wanna come with us?
Katy: No it's okay. You two have fun, just bring me some breadsticks back.
Maya: Sure thing. See you later tonight, I still have to pick up my things from Farkle's house.
Shawn: I thought you spent the night over at Cory's house.
Maya: Oh um I did but last night me and Riley went to Farkle's to watch a movie in his movie theater and it got late so we just stayed the night.
Shawn: Oh okay. Let's go.

Maya's POV.
I feel bad for lying to Shawn but I noticed that he didn't bring up me and Riley being together so I guess my mom didn't tell him so I couldn't tell him the real reason I haven't been at home and why I was at Farkle's house. Ugh, since my mom didn't tell him I like girls, I have to tell him. I don't think he'll react the way my mom did but who knows what will happen? I just wish this wasn't such a big deal to some people. I like girls so what? It's not like I'm a serial killer who's obsessed with..... killing I guess? Whatever my brain is thinking too many things at once. How will I tell him? Should I tell him after we eat? Yes, everyone is happier after they eat. I wonder what I'll get to eat this time hmm... Damn it, focus Maya. I just hope he understands. I really really really hope he's supportive.
