Chapter 11.

Sunday, 3:30am

Maya couldn't sleep so she calls Riley to see if she's awake, she's almost positive Riley isn't awake because Riley has been going to bed at 8:30pm since they were little but she decided to call anyway because she wanted to talk to her.
Riley rolls over and rubs her eyes as she hears her phone ring and is surprised to see its Maya calling, Maya has never called Riley this late so she's worried something may be wrong.

Riley: Maya it's 3am are you okay? Did something happen?
Maya: Riles, calm down nothing happened, I'm okay. I just wanted to hear your voice. I can't sleep.
Riley: ITS 3Am!
Maya: I know. Sooo what ya doing?
Riley: I'm literally sleeping my eyes aren't even open right now
Maya: Aw I'm sorry for waking you, I shouldn't have called.
Riley: It's okay, it's nice to hear your voice too even though we are literally gonna see each other in a few hours.
Maya:  I know but we never talk on the phone because we're always with each other. Isn't this nice?
Riley: Yeah it is but we need to go to sleep, we have school
Maya: Damn I forgot, we have school tomorrow
Riley: Yes sadly.
Maya: Well I'll see you tomorrow. Love you Riles.
Riley: Love you too peaches.

It's Monday morning so Maya and Riley are getting ready for school. Maya never understood why you have to get up so early for school, she always wondered why school isn't in the afternoon but that's just one of the thousands of Maya's random thoughts. Riley on the other hand loves the feeling of waking up early, having breakfast then heading to school with her bestfriend. Riley binge watched a bunch of romantic movies over winter break and it had her thinking, she noticed in those movies how hard relationships are and how much effort some of them take to work but that isn't the case with her and Maya. Maybe it's because they're best friends but Riley thinks it's more than that. It was so hard for her and Lucas to connect when they were together but when her and Maya became a couple, it seemed like the easiest and most comfortable thing in the world to Riley. It was just easy for them, it was that simple.

Riley and Maya get to school and meet up with their friends and Maya senses weird tension so she wants to make sure everything is okay.

Maya: Everything okay?
Farkle: Yep
Lucas: Of course
Zay: Uh...
Maya: Zay? You wanna tell me what's going on?
Riley: Yeah Zay, tell us
Lucas: Zay.. don't.
Maya: You shut your face Huckleberry.
Zay: Okay. Some new girl named Makayla was at the New Years party and she saw you and Riley kiss so recently she's been going around talking about it to everyone who wasn't there.
Maya:  I had a feeling you were going to say something like that, I honestly don't care what anyone thinks so whatever. Let her talk
Riley: Maya! What if my dad hears about it? I have to talk to her and tell her to stop. I need to tell him this myself, it's gonna be a disaster if he finds out about it through students talking about it in his class, that CANT happen.
Lucas: Riley it's okay just calm down and I think it's about time you tell him, like you should tell him soon. Very soon before he finds out on his own.
Riley: How soon is soon?
Farkle: I don't know, maybe today? But that's just a suggestion but a suggestion you should think about. Just saying.
Riley: TODAY? I haven't even practiced what I'm gonna say I can't do it today.
Maya: Maybe you don't need to practice for this Riles. No matter what, your parents love you and I can come with you if you want.
Riley: You think I was gonna do this ALONE?? I could never. Of course I want you there but do you really think we should do it today?
Maya: Honestly, Yes. I think it's about time they knew.
Riley: Wow okay so after my mom gets off work which is around 6, we can tell them together.
Maya: Okay, we're really gonna do this.
Farkle: Why are you guys so cute? I hate to ruin this moment but I just had to say it.
Zay: I know man, I feel like I'm watching a romantic movie or something.
Maya: Oh be quiet we aren't that cute
Riley: uh I have to disagree with you on that one, I think we are definitely the cutest
Maya: Well if you say we are the cutest then it must be true.
Farkle: Guys class starts soon, lets go!
