A long way home {a Shawn Mendes fanfiction}

When I'm at school, my friends greet me but I'm not at all in the mood to reply. Abigail lays her hand on my shoulder "what happened? Ash?" I groan "nothing... it's just..." I can't hold it back, my eyes start to burn and tears start forming in my eyes. I start crying and my friends are surprised.

Olivia hugs me "tell us, you know that we're always here for you" I dry my tears and tell them everything "My parents... my parents are going to divorce, my dad cheated on my mom and now my dad is going to live with his new girlfriend... and she is horrible." Emma hugs me and the bell rings, math... she looks me in the eyes and holds my right hand with the both of hers. "Stay strong, you'll get through this day. I'll see you at lunch". She let go of my hand and patted my shoulder while sending me a supporting smile, before walking off to class.

At lunch, all of my friends listen to my story while  I'm trying my best not to cry. They all give me comforting speeches, but no matter how much I appreciate them trying to help me, there's really nothing they can do.

When I come home my dad is packing his stuff and when he notices me, he speaks up "hey sweetheart, how was school?" I don't answer, I'm so angry about how he keeps on calling me sweetheart. Then I answer "when are you going? And WHERE are you going?" My dad - surprised because I answered his question - starts telling "I'm going to live with Amanda, she lives 2 kilometers away, so you can always come visit me or, if you're at my place, you can always go visit your mom!" I pretend to be happy and walk to my room. I sit down on my bed and questions come through my mind. Why did this happen to me, why? I lay down on my bed and think about it. I stand up and take a warm, comforting shower. My phone rings and I pick it up. "hi? It's Ashley." "Hey Ash! It's Emma, I wanted to ask, how you're doing? If you want to come over and have a sleep over, you can come!" I thank her "thank you Emma, I'd really love to! I'll pack my bag and I'll be there in 30 minutes! See you!" Emma laughs "I love you see you bye!" I greet her and break up the phone

I knock on the door and wait. Emma opens the door and hugs me "hey Ash! I'm so happy that you're here! Come in!" I hug her and walk in "thank you for helping me escape from home. I love you"
I get my bag upstairs to Emma's room and we sit down on the bed "my dad leaves tomorrow..." I didn't expect but I start crying. Emma hugs me "It's okay. Cry" and when she said that, I just couldn't be that strong girl anymore... I cried in her arms until my whole body was out of tears. I hug her "thank you for being my best friend, I love you so much" Emma hugs me back and smiles "I'm glad to be your best friend" We watch a romantic film together and when it's finished we go sleep.

It's 11 am I wake up and look at Emma's bed. Empty. I look around but she's not in the room. I get out of bed and get my unicorn onesie on. I go downstairs and Emma sits on the couch "hey sleepy girl! I'm sorry for leaving you but I was so bored" I laugh "doesn't matter! I'm hungry" Emma stands up and we have breakfast. "I have to go home at 1 pm because my dad wants to bring me to Amandas house... I never met her before" My mood turns into a bad mood again and I look at my best friend "I understand, come back whenever you want". I thank her and when we finish breakfast we go upstairs and I pack my bag and change my clothes "Emma, thank you so much for helping me."

"No problem, I'm here to help you, I'm here whenever you need me"
I hug her and bring my bag downstairs. "Bye and thank you again" Emmas mom hugs me and wishes me good luck and Emma does the same. "Bye"

As soon as I come home my dad tells me, "you're late! We have to go! And right now" I drop my bag on my desk and go outside. When I sit down in the car I see my brother is already in the car "hey Matthew, excited?" Matthew is 6 years old and he doesn't really know what's going to happen. "I don't know! Dad said I was going to have a new own bedroom!"

Okay... so he is excited. I put my earbuds in and start and shuffle a Bruno Mars playlist

"We're here!" I turn off the music and get out the car. I was now standing in front of a small house. The first thing I see is the yellow door. When I look through the window, a woman catches my eyes and wow she was gorgeous, she was basically a perfect woman. Her brown curly hair falls down on her shoulders and she has a perfect body.

I walk in and look at her, her eyes are clear blue and her lips are maked uo with a beautiful pink color.

Then I remember that she caused that my parents divorced. I hate her.

She looks at me and sighs "hey, I'm Amanda, you pobably knew. I live here with my two children, Mila and Jack.

I walk in and see two children, a boy and a girl. Amanda points at the girl "That's Mila, she is 10 years old. And Jack" she points at the boy. "He is 7 years old. I hope you guys will get to know each other better soon!" they are so young. "I am Ashley, call me Ash! I'm 15 years old." The children don't answer so I know I will ignore them for the rest of the week. Then I ask Amanda "can you now show me my room?" I pick up my bag and follow her to a small room. "Thank you" Amanda leaves me alone and I sit down on the bed.

So I'm all alone with children that are so much younger than me. I'm sure Amanda doesn't like me, her children don't like me and my dad is obsessed with Amanda so I'll have to face this alone. I check social media and lay down on the bed.
