A long way home {a Shawn Mendes fanfiction}

T H I R T E E N

~ Ashley's POV ~
"We invite all the passengers that go to London airport, to go to the checking over 5 minutes. The plane will take off at 6.23 PM" I look up, my stomach is empty and I walk to the restroom. 3 minutes later I'm in a bug crowd of stressing people. I don't see anything. I walk out the crowd to see a screen on which is written 'check in & take off'
I quickly overlook the screen to find the information about the flight to London
'Destination: London airport. Check in: gate 7, 5.53 PM. Take off: 6.23 PM'
I take a look at my watch, to see that it is 5.53. So I quickly walk over to gate 7, get my passport and the ticket out of my backpack and show them to the security. The man nods and I walk further. After 15 minutes of security checks and waiting I walk in the plane. I sit down on my seat next to the window and I put my backpack on the ground, get my phone and my earphones out of it and listen to my music. 5 minutes later the plane takes off and I watch how I'm further and further away from Pickering.
I look next to me and see a boy, with messy hair and a big smile on his face. I turn around again because that boy was really weird, I ask myself what he is doing here. Then I ask myself what I'm doing here. I don't even know why. What. How. Well, I needed an escape.

It's a long way home, it takes all of you, your time, energy and reputation.
It won't be easy. But you have to.
Go for it. Do it.
Cause if you do it... you have to do it right.

Where did that come from?! I put my music on pause and look around me. People are reading or sleeping. I guess it was just a voice in my head. Then I fall asleep.

"Get your seatbelts on, the plane is getting ready for the landing"
Even though I didn't look, I knew my seatbelt was attached. The plane landed and a few hours later I arrive at my mom's home.
I take a deep breath as I ring the doorbell.
My mom opens the door and her eyes widen as she sees me.
"Ashley!!" She hugs me tight "my babygirl I missed you so bad, what are you doing here?!"
I just nod. "I'll explain you if you let me in"
My mom nods and lets me in "oh Ash I miss you so much"
I hug her again and explain her the whole story. There's only one thing I don't tell her, and that is what happened with Camila. My mom gives me food and lets me sleep in her bed. I didn't sleep the whole night. It was about 5 AM I guess. I don't know, because my phone died.

~Shawn's POV~
It's 12 AM and Ash still didn't come home, I called her a thousand times but she doesn't reply. Also the texts that I sent, are not delivered. Everyone is worried and the police sent out a message in the whole country, to find her. I'm really worried and I just hope that she is okay.
Mom walks up to me "Shawn, go to sleep honey, if we get any news, I will wake you up. I promise"
I nod. I get into my bed, but I can't sleep. I just stare at the floor. I try to imagine why she would leave. I can't get a good reason for it. I just can't understand why.
