Newt agreed to help Tegwen with her drawings on Freud's family as no matter how much time she spent on it, it didn't work out so well for the woman. The two sat in the field, with Newt drawing and Tegwen watching Pickett who was catching all sorts of bugs for Freud and his family members and offering it. The sun began poking out behind the thick clouds, causing Tegwen to sneeze violently. Newt looked up from his drawing and glanced over in her direction with a smile.

"I'd be careful if I were you...sneezing like that. You might attract a gorilla and offend him," He told her.

Tegwen laughed and shook her head. "I wasn't even sure if the sneeze offended him, it was just a theory! Besides, I'm sure you've upset plenty of animals and creatures over your time working with them."

"Yes, but it wasn't because I sneezed," Newt pointed out.

She turned to face him, leaving Pickett and Freud to their buffet of bugs. "How did you come across all those creatures? What made you decide to keep them all in your case?"

"They needed help," Newt said focusing back on the book. "All of them needed some form of help, whether they are on the verge of extinction or simply in danger, I wanted to help them. Like Frank, he was chained up in Egypt, what kind of life is that for a Thunderbird?"

"Not a very good one at all, I would say," Tegwen said. "What about Patrick, how did you come across him?"

"Oh, that little bugger," Newt smiled to himself. "I didn't find him really, he found me or rather found some sickles that I had in one of my bags. But when I spotted him going through my things, you should have seen him, he was completely malnourished and he had this collar on that was far too tight, it was digging into his skin."

"Wait, a collar? Did I hear you right? What was a niffler doing with a collar?"

"You would be surprised by how many witches and wizards will come across one of them and try to get them to do their personal bidding for them," Newt said, his jaw clenching just at the thought of it.

"Personal bidding? You mean, they use the nifflers to steal, is that it?"

"Yes, they let the nifflers free and in return they keep food out for the nifflers so that they return. Once they do, they empty the niffler's pouch and collect everything. The niffler has no choice but to keep going back out and grab everything it can because it's all taken from them. "

Tegwen frowned. "I would have never suspected that people did things like that. I couldn't imagine someone actually getting a niffler to listen, I mean, just look at Patrick."

'Well, he's grown adventurous over the years again, but when I first got hold of him, he didn't do much of anything. I was the one that had to give him some shiny objects, for the longest time, I wasn't sure how long he was going to survive, even under my care."

"What did you do to get him back to his usual self?"

"It took time, a lot of shiny objects and just...building trust. That's with all the creatures here. You know, Pickett wasn't as friendly as he is now. He used to bite me all the time when I first came upon him and his siblings. Stubborn little thing he was, I couldn't get him to warm up to me until he physically had to."

"When he got sick?" Tegwen said.

"Yes, when he got sick, I basically forced him to accept my body heat by keeping him in my jacket. He fought it for about a day, but then I think he realized that I was trying to help him. Once he understood that..well...as you can see, where I go...he goes."

The two glanced over at Pickett and chuckled as they heard a high-pitched chirp sound off in the distance.

"That's with all of the creatures really. They just have to realize that you're not going to hurt them and eventually, they give you their trust. Some quicker than others, most of it depending on their past relationship with humans," Newt told her.
