While traveling always seemed to be nicer when the weather was nice, the couple and the creatures were bound to hit some bad weather during their journey. Unfortunately, they had hit a large patch of storms that wasn't making it the easiest for them to travel, despite magic. The thunder and the lightning definitely raised enough havoc that the creatures inside Newt's case were all in an uproar. It became even worse when they all went into hiding, making it difficult for Newt to locate them and make sure that they were alright.
"Alright, all the Occamy babies are accounted for," Tegwen said as she returned to where Newt was standing. "Although I don't think they're going to appreciate being called that much longer, they told me that they at least want to be considered adolescents, if that's alright with you."
Her tone was teasing but Newt did not look amused causing her to raise a brow and look around. Tegwen reached her finger out and poked him repeatedly on his shoulder until he responded. Finally, he glanced over at her and jumped realizing how close that she was standing to him. Placing his hand over his chest and taking a couple of breaths, he chuckled to himself before looking over at her again.
"Didn't mean to frighten you," Tegwen told him. "I figured you heard me since you were concerned about the Occamies being frightened about the storms. "
"Are they okay?" He asked with a small frown.
"Of course, they actually all took to hiding in a couple pairs of your socks, they seem quite cozy," She smiled. "Now, why are you so worked up? Are you afraid of the storm?"
"Me? Oh no," Newt shook his head. "I'm not afraid of storms, but I am concerned that I haven't seen Pickett in the last hour or so."
"Wasn't he with Freud?" The two looked over to Freud, who appeared content resting in the small pot that he had squeezed himself into. However, neither one of them saw Pickett in his usual spot beside him. She looked around but there was no sign of the little bowtruckle.
"Do you think he might have gone back with his siblings?"
"I've already checked there," Newt said placing his hands on his hips. "This is how he gets in storms, he hides away until they're gone. But I've checked all of his usual hiding spots and I haven't seen him."
"Well, do you think he might be in the room? I mean, I showered earlier, he might have hung around afterward, he does enjoy the steam."
"I did not think to look there."
Tegwen smiled at him. "Aren't you glad you have me around?"
Finally, Newt smiled and nodded his head before taking her hand and leading her up the stairs so they could return to the room of the inn they were staying in until the storms passed over.
"Pickett?" He called out as soon as he pushed the top open. "Are you up here?" He looked all around as he stood on the steps, his head poking out of the case. He still held Tegwen's hand, leaving her on the steps behind him.
"Um...Newt, as much as I am enjoying the view down here," Tegwen's voice called out. "Are we climbing out of the case or staying back here?"
The man turned bright red in the face before climbing out the rest of the way and then helping Tegwen out. She could only laugh at the prominent blush that was etched on his cheeks before the two stood around in the room. Neither one of them saw Pickett, especially as Newt walked over to check the shower.
There was a bright flash in the room as the curtains were not drawn, flooding the room with bright light before the thunder started to rumble shortly after. Tegwen could hear some of the creatures scurrying about back in the case, trying to escape the noise.
