Feelings were shared and confirmed and there was no doubt to all those that so much even glanced in the direction of the couple that Tegwen and Newt were in love. It was a love that took many years to develop even into a friendship. Both of them shy students, lacking social skills, but showing that they could get through life without being quite the opposite of who they were. Mistakes were made on both of their behalfs, but in the end, they were able to confront them and move on with their lives without guilt and pain weighing them down. They had found happiness, just in time because something bigger was waiting for them beyond the visible of the horizon.
Finding Grindelwald in New York City had just been the beginning of all of it, Newt finishing his manuscript, publishing his book and then Tegwen getting started on hers, that was just a bit of a filler to the start of their adventure. The good times as they would refer to them as later on when they were old and their hair started to grey. However, that was way down the road as there was a war coming and they were involved whether they wanted to be or not. Their world that they had grown up to admire so much, whether it was the plants or creatures or both were going to be threatened.
However, in those moments where they could just observe plants and creatures living happily in their natural habitats, it was enough for the couple to get through the rough days ahead.
On days where it would just seem horrible and no chance of hope for the Wizarding World as they entered dark times, they could think of Pickett chirping words of encouragement, they could think of Dougal bringing them cups of tea in exchange for cuddles, Freud and his family taking on giants with no problem, and Patrick joyously jumping in the air during the coin game.
They could see the creatures as their children until their own came along and then they could just see it as their son having plenty of older siblings to grow up alongside. They could teach their child to love and respect the Earth along with the creatures that they shared the ground and air with. But they were also teaching generations of upcoming young adults, ones that were studying Care of Magical Creatures and Magizoology, and the same that were learning the basics of Herbology. Their books would be viewed for decades, even long after they were gone.
Their relationship was met with a rough start, one of them nearly meeting their death before even graduating Hogwarts. They went years without talking but fate had a funny way of bringing them back together. Because fate knew of all the greatness they could achieve as they pushed each other to be bigger and better. Fate knew that the two would go on to pave roads for aspiring minds to come and fate knew above all that Tegwen Gittins was meant to become Tegwen Gittins-Scamander in the long run.
