Kinley Angelwood POV:
It had been over half since Braxton and I had left the Cornucopia. It had been well over an hour since Aya almost killed me. It's what I get for trying to kill Tally. I didn't want to be killed first. Braxton had grabbed two bags and a sword. We were traveling further into the forest. We could her the trickle of water from here. We had gone into the left. So far it was all dead wood. A grey cloud above us. Bushes and fallen old trees could cover us. The trees could hold us but not that many.
We had looked through our bags and we had the basics. We needed to get somewhere further into the woods. The cannons had fired but no more had echoed through the skies. One thing we didn't have though were sleeping bags.
"Braxton, Do you think we should keep going?" I huffed.
I was used to walking distances but not with the anxiety I had within me. Braxton stopped and looked around there was no clearings but there were some worn in paths. He picked up some sticks and made a fire?! Was he insane? A fire?
"Braxton are you crazy!" I hissed. "We want to live not die before tomorrow!"
"Relax they won't be able to see it. With that clouding we're safe." He assured me. "So calm down and eat something."
"Alright, so how much longer do you think we can keep going we've been going for half the day. Should we stop here?" I asked.
"No let's keep going till nightfall we stop for now but we keep going." He ordered.
We ate in silence and got up and put the fire out. We were lucky no one was near us. I sighed. We heard the familiar trickle of water we still moved along it. We had at crossed it nearly drowning too. Braxton stopped suddenly and looked forward. Where were we? I saw a cabin? Well more like a shack but it was a building. We made our way inside. Braxton went up the stairs. To the right a kitchen to the left a living room with an old tv? This place was better than my house for crying out loud. Some couches and chairs.
"Aaa!"
Braxton suddenly screamed. Wait what! Why was he screaming! I ran up the stairs to see him being attacked by a dog? I ran at it holding a knife ready. The thing growled at me going for Braxton. No! I kicked it once sending it off of him. Braxton scrambled back.
"Kinley don't kill it. It came when I blew the whistle!" Braxton grabbed me from behind.
"It tried to kill you!" I hissed.
"No he didn't come on Kinley relax, he's just a little over excited." the dog barked in agreement.
"Fine, just don't keep that thing near me!" I shivered moving away from it.
The dog just growled a bit but backed up to Braxton. "It's just a pup, come on there's no danger besides this fella up here."
"The downstairs is fine too. Nothing special. Think there's running water in that bathroom?" I asked.
"Maybe but I wouldn't test it. I'd go with the river instead to clean up." He said. "We'll stay here tonight."
"Fine, it's almost sunset anyways."
Tanner Helms POV:
I stumbled through the forest around me I had been running straight for hours. The sun had fallen behind the tree tops of what I think it did. The grey sky was now black pitch no stars shinning around us in this night. When was the last time I had seen the stars? I just shook my head. I had a bag and a sleeping bag. I pulled out some food and ate a bit.
