(y/n) was sleeping peacefully on her bed. She stayed up late at night talking to Professor Kukui about her new Alola life that was going to happen soon. Her sleep didn't last long as suddenly loud cries shot out. (y/n) opened her eyes to see what the noise was about, and she saw meowth.

(y/n) sat up and yawned. When she suddenly remembered what was going to happen, she jumped out of bed and ran out of her room.

"You were out like a light, weren't you? You ought to be full of energy by now!" (y/n)'s mom chuckled. "Are you pumped to see some Alolan pokemon?" She asked.

"Yeah I am! I can't wait!" (y/n) responded.

"That's right! I want to hurry up and meet some too!" (y/n)'s mom said. She continued to talk until the doorbell rang. "Was that the doorbell?" She asked.

"No, it was meowth learning Alolan." (y/n) responded sarcastically. Her mom chuckled.

"That's got to be Professor Kukui. Why don't you let him in?" (y/n)'s mom asked. (y/n) nodded and went towards the door, only to see Professor Kukui walk in, himself.

"Hey there, (y/n)! The names Kukui. Good to meet you, cousin!" Kukui greeted.

"Uh, hi." (y/n) waved awkwardly.

"You gotta be tired after that long trip all the way out here to Alola! You feelin' any jet lag? We sure are a long way from Kanto out here in Alola." Kukui added. (y/n)'s mom walked over.

"Professor Kukui! Yes, we just arrived yesterday," she responds.

"Hey there, mom! I just let myself in. Oh, and call me Kukui, would you? Welcome to Alola!" Kukui exclaims.

"Of course. I still remember seeing you battle the Indigo Gym Leaders back in Kanto all those years ago, you know! I've been in love with Alolan Pokemon ever since, so I finally decided to come here myself!" (y/n)'s mom smiles.

"Ha! I was suppose to be visiting there to research Kanto Pkemon moves and all. I thought I knew a thing or two about battling, but those Kanto Gym Leaders proved me wrong!" Kukui laughs. "Hey now, (y/n)! Let's get a move on to the next town over, cousin! Time for you to meet the Island Kahuna and get yourself a Pokemon, yeah!" Kukui looks over at (y/n).

"Kahuna?" (y/n) blinked.

"Sure, sure. The kahunas are crazy-strong Pokemon Trainers here in Alola, cousin! They're unbeatable for folks like me and you!" Kukui replies. "And the kahuna who lives in Iki Town is always happy to give any kid who wants to have an adventure their first Pokemon, yeah."

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!" (y/n) was about to rush out the door.

"Not so fast, missy." (y/n)'s mom stops her. "You should go get your bag and hat first."

"I bet you've got a stylin' hat that'll match mine, yeah?" Kukui jokes. (y/n) ran into her room and quickly put on her hat and grabbed her bag, then ran out of her room.

"You look ready for anything now. Have a good time out there!" (y/n)'s mom smiles.

"Yeah, yeah. Can we go now?" (y/n) bounces excitedly.

"Okay, okay. Follow me, cousin!" Kukui chuckles. They both walk out the house and head towards Iki Town, Kukui explaining some things while on the way.

"And we're here! This right here is Iki Town! This town is where folks come to worship the Pokemon that watches over Melemele Island. Tapu Koko keeps us all safe and happy, see!" Kukui looks around confused. "Huh? We were suppose to meet everybody right here, yeah. Maybe they're all back there on Mahalo Trail. That's where  the ruins of our guardian deity, Tapu Koko, are, yeah..." Kukui turns around. "(y/n)! Do me a solid and  go find the island kahuna! I'll  wait around here to make sure we don't miss each other."
