The Reason Why I Sing

Sehun sits comfortably on the floor of his bedroom, bowl of chips in hand, and the remote control for the TV in the other. His finger presses onto the green button, turning on the television in front of him. His bored eyes scan through the guide as he scrolls up and down. The boy wanted to watch a Chinese show for once since his Chinese was a little rusty and he needed to practice and get used to hearing the language. The group had a concert in China in a few days and Sehun was excited since he knew he was probably breathing the same air as Luhan. His beautiful Luhan.

Sehun finally decides on one channel which was Chinese. His ears perked up at the sound of the host mentioning Luhan's name. They showed a little clip of  Luhan's music video, Promises, and finally they showed Luhan who was dressed up nicely and sitting on a chair in front of the interviewer.

"Today we have Luhan..." the interviewer begins.

Sehun tunes out of what the person was saying and instead focuses his eyes on Luhan himself. It's been a while, a long while since he's face chatted and talked with Luhan. The older surely was more handsome than he remembered and his voice was sexier and mature.

'Alright, Luhan, you proved us wrong. You really are a man. A sexy man.' Sehun thought, biting his bottom lip and staring at him on the screen.

Sehun munches on his chips and continues staring at Luhan until finally he hears a question from the interviewer.

"Who were you the closest to in EXO?"

Sehun tenses and from the looks of it, so did Luhan.

'They shouldn't be asking him such questions... That's just... That's a sensitive question.' Sehun thinks.

Luhan takes a deep breath and smiles at the interviewer and begins speaking,

"His name was Oh Sehun. You probably know him well. He's EXO's maknae. He and I were really close and... In all honesty, I really liked him... I don't know if it's in a friend way or more than that but... My feelings for him grow each day. He's always on my mind." he says, a blush growing on his cheeks when he realizes what he just said.

The interviewer, who was a girl, is grinning from ear to ear at this, probably loving how cute it sounded.

"That's so..." she giggles, "that's just too sweet of you."

Luhan chuckles and nods, "thanks."

"I have another question for you."

"Sure."

"Why do you sing?"

Luhan looks down at his hands for a second and breathes in and out before coming with an answer.

"I sing because of him. Because of Sehun." he says.

Sehun's eyes widen and he blushes more than he normally does, his heart pounding against his chest. The maknae couldn't explain what he was feeling at the moment because he was so flustered. He loved how the name "Sehun" rolled off his tongue perfectly just like before. Sehun was so happy knowing Luhan still hasn't forgotten about him.

"I love you too, Luhan hyung..." Sehun whispers, his eyes tearing up with joy.

Sehun's tears flow down his cheeks as he continues listening. It felt as if he was being proposed to.

"Sehun was my best friend, my inspiration. He was always there for me and I love him so much. Some people think that I probably forgot about him but I never did. I love Oh Sehun and nothing can change that. That's why I sing." Luhan then finishes, a smile on his face.

Sehun pushes the bowl of chips away from him and grabs his pillow, then sobs into it. He misses Luhan so much and hearing those words come from his loved one made him cry.

"I love you too, Luhan hyung... I l-love you so much... Very much." he sobs out.

The interview ends with background music playing and Luhan showing off his dazzling smile and waving at the camera.

Sehun wipes away his tears and takes out a necklace from inside his pocket, his hand tightly holding it. The necklace was the one Luhan bought him a few months after they debuted as EXO. The pendant was an L, standing for Luhan. The boy tears up even more as he remembers the exact words Luhan told him.

"Sehun, look what I got you!" fetus Luhan exclaims, holding up a necklace in front of the maknae.

Sehun stares at it and smiles, "for me?"

"Yes."

"But hyung, I'm not a girl... I don't like wearing necklaces."

Luhan saddens at what Sehun says and hides the necklace behind his back.

"Oh... Then... I'll just keep it or something..."

Sehun giggles and pulls Luhan in for a hug, then nuzzles his head in Luhan's neck.

"No, I'll take it. I just won't wear it but it will be with me everwhere. Like a lucky charm!"

Luhan grins and hands the necklace to Sehun happily.

"What does the L stand for, hyung?" Sehun asks.

Luhan holds Sehun's hand, tracing weird shapes in his palm and smiling softly when Sehun gets tickled and giggles.

"It stands for Luhan. I want you to always remember me. That way, we'll never part." Luhan explains.

"Why would I forget my best friend?" Sehun says, kissing Luhan's forehead briefly, "we'll never part. Promise me that, hyung."

"Promise."

They smile at each other and Sehun hurriedly places the necklace in his pocket when the manager calls the new group up to perform.

"We'll never part. I'll see you soon, hyung." Sehun says, looking out the window.

He had a mission when they got to China: Meet his hyung again.
