Arranged Marriage
(As weird as this sounds, just pretend Junmyeon's half Korean and half Chinese and his family lives in China)
"Junmyeon!" called out my older sister. "It's time to come inside now!"
I came out from behind the wooden fences that covered our rose garden and skipped happily towards my sister. "Do we have guests?"
She nodded and reached out her hand for me to take which I gladly received.
When we entered, we saw our grandmother standing there in front of us, a firm expression on with both hands on her waist. "What took you two so long?" she asked.
"I was admiring your flowers, ma!" I exclaimed with a smile.
Her face softened and she leaned down to kiss my forehead. "You're a sweet boy to spend your play time to admire my garden," she said, "but always remember to be on time, no matter the situation. That's important to remember, Junmyeonnie!"
"Yes, ma!"
From the doorway, we heard quiet talking from inside the kitchen and I walked there to see the guests.
There they were, sitting at the table with my mother drinking tea. There were just three of them, a son about my age, a beautiful woman, and a handsome man.
"Junmyeon, come sit down," my mother told me.
I nodded and obediently sat down in the chair across from the boy. I looked at him and examined his face. He was really cute...
He had chubby cheeks, adorable, small eyes, and plump lips. He stared back at me an I grew insecure since I didn't think of myself as cute or handsome like him. He smiled at me, though, and I guess that was a sign that he liked me.
My parents and the two adults which I guessed were his parents talked about things I didn't care about, like tea, embroidery (which was mainly between his mom and mine.), and rice fields. All that random stuff.
After they conversed for quite a while, my grandmother and big sister joined us at the table and our servant came to pour us some tea (with the exception of me and the new boy, since we were young.).
"Your son is very cute," his mom told my mother. I soon learned her name was Mrs. Zhang.
My mother blushed. "Thank you. I should say the same with yours."
My grandma stared at me and so did my dad and older sister, and I gave them a confused look. "What?" I mouthed.
My sister rolled her eyes. "Say thank you," she mouthed back.
'Oh,' I thought. "Thank you, Mrs. Zhang," I said.
"You're very welcome."
The boy and I still haven't talked or been talked to by anyone else at the table and I got extremely bored, so I got off my chair, walked up behind his seat, and tapped his shoulder from behind.
He turned around, eyebrows raised since was startled, but he calmed down and gave me a kind grin. "Hi, my name is Zhang Yixing."
"My name is Kim Junmyeon, and I'm half Korean and half Chinese," I said confidently.
"Oh are you?"
"Yes."
"Can we talk outside?" he asked.
I nodded and he followed me outside of the house.
I ended up taking him to my grandma's rose garden, where there were two small wooden chairs against the fence. We sat there and at first it was silent, but we quickly got along and began talking.
"So, do you go to a public school?" he asked.
I shook my head. I'm not a rich kid. "No. Do you?"
He nodded. "Yeah, and it's pretty cool because I get to hang out with other boys from around my neighborhood and such," he explained.
I looked down and said nothing. I felt pretty jealous because I was only home schooled and I didn't have any friends... Unless you count my sister.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah..."
"I'm sorry if I made you upset," he apologized in quiet voice.
I shook my head. "No, you did nothing."
I frowned and focused on my lap. He then held my arm and looked at me.
"I know something that could cheer you up. I mean, I don't exactly know what I did wrong, but I think this could cheer you up," he said. I giggled a little bit. He's so clueless yet cute. I looked back at him and told him to continue. "I could teach you some things I learned from school! Like, we learn astronomy, geometry, English... All of that cool stuff!" he said.
My eyes widened. I never once learned those things. "Really?"
"Yeah!"
I then paused for a little bit. "Hold on... We're not even close friends and I highly doubt you'll come over often, so how could you teach me? I mean, I barely even know you."
"Didn't they tell you beforehand? You're going to be my husband someday."
*Junmyeon and Yixing are both young in this chapter. My teacher said that in China (like in the old days), kids get arranged marriages at a young age. She also told us that parents won't allow same sex marriage, but since this is a gay story (lmao lmao) I decided to change that so that same sex marriage is allowed (yay! I made myself a new and improved China!)*
Btw I'm having serious writers block and like legit I keep writing and deleting drafts ugh kmn
