I Need You
"Youngjae, he said he's sorry. All the times that he's hurt you, he doesn't mean it," Mark said.
Youngjae sniffled as he buried his face deep into his soft pillow. "Yeah, sure he does," he muttered.
Jinyoung, who was beside Youngjae, rubbed the younger's back in a comforting manner. "It's okay, Jae. We're here for you."
Mark gave Jinyoung a hard stare that screamed, "Don't say Jae ever again" and Jinyoung mouthed a quick "Sorry".
Youngjae grabbed another tissue from his second tissue box and once again, hot, salty tears ran down his pale cheeks like a river.
The man has been crying for so long and locking himself in his own room so often, that Jinyoung and Mark always had to intrude his house and come to the rescue.
Two weeks ago was when the whole disaster had happened.
That whole month of February was where Jaebum and Youngjae's relationship was giving out signs of going downhill.
Youngjae ignored his hurt feelings, even if he knew Jaebum was already tired of him. His heart ached everytime Jaebum forced him to get out of his room, it hurt when Jaebum would yell at Youngjae for not cooking his food perfectly, and it especially hurt when Jaebum would lock himself in a room to answer frequent phone calls. Phone calls that Youngjae knew was from another lover.
Youngjae endured with the pain anyway, and he felt like jumping off a tall building when Jaebum told him that they needed to break up. It didn't help that Jaebum added even more to his announcement.
"I never really loved you that much, anyway. It's only best for us."
"Jaebum... Jaebum, please tell me you're joking," Youngjae pleaded as he cried while tugging on Jaebum's jacket.
"Let go!"
"N---No...""Just---" Jaebum clicked his tongue then forcefully and harshly removed Youngjae's hand from his jacket and shoved him away using one hand.
No words were exchanged as Jaebum simply walked away, not even trying to listen closely to Youngjae's shattering heart.
Youngjae choked out a sob. Why does it have to hurt so much?
---
"Is that all for you?" Youngjae asked the customer while he wrote their name on the blue coffee cup.
"Yes."
"Alright, that will be ₩4,000."The customer handed over the money, and Youngjae gave back the change with a smile.
"Youngjae, take your break, I'll take your position."
Youngjae let out a sigh of relief and walked away from the cashier register and into the back of the café which was where the break room was at.
At the exact same time that he walked inside the break room, his ex, Jaebum, had just walked in and was in line to grab his morning coffee.
---
"I'll forever love you, Soyeon-ah."
Youngjae cringed as he watched the two actors on his Korean drama share a kiss and he chucked four pieces of popcorn towards his laptop.
"Bullshit!" Youngjae yelled. "Absolute bullshit!"
Jinyoung barged into Youngjae's dark room and immediately asked, "Everything alright?"
Youmgjae's bottom lip began to quiver and his eyes turned teary again.
"It's bullshit, Jinyoung! Just bullshit!!!" he cried out.
Jinyoung rushed over to his friend in despair and wrapped his arms around the poor guy.
"It's okay, Youngjae-ah, it's okay," Jinyoung whispers in his ear. "I'll get you some water, alright?"
Youngjae weakly nods and Jinyoung walks out of his room to grab the hiccuping boy some H2O.
When Jinyoung gets back, he sees that Youngjae had fallen asleep wrapped up in his pastel blue blanket, with his laptop still playing the romance drama.
There are so many people who love you, Youngjae... Jinyoung thought. I love you. I just can't tell you yet.
---
"Jaebum, you're a dumbass," Jackson said to his frowning friend that was downing a half-full cup of alcohol.
"Yeah, I know, now fuck off and leave me to rot in this shitty house of mine."
Jackson doesn't budge and Jaebum grunts, then pushes the younger as hard as he can, which isn't as hard as Jackson expected considering his hyung was drunk.
"It's true, I was annoyed and a little tired of Youngjae... but he's my sunshine... I can't live without my sunshine..." Jaebum said, the very last parts of his sentence drifting off quietly while droplets of tears fell onto his shorts.
"You have serious anger issues, Jae. You get annoyed too easily which is why you both got into this mess. I bet Youngjae's already lifeless at his house---"
"Do you want me to murder you right now?"
Jackson hastily shut his mouth and Jaebum went back to chugging down his beverage.
---
"Let's go out, Youngjae," Jinyoung told the younger who was busy coloring some random coloring book he found in his drawers.
"No."
"Youngjae..."Jinyoung turned Youngjae around in his chair, then lifted him up as best as he can and luckily, Youngjae made the effort to listen and stand on his two legs.
"Let's go out and have some fun... we should bond more. You know, I really miss you, Youngjae, especially when you were still with Jaebum and I was in Tokyo."
Youngjae pouted and Jinyoung really wants to lightly pinch his cheeks, so that's what he did.
"Jinyoung, don't do that," Youngjae whined, but he started to smile anyway.
The atmosphere turned silent and Jinyoung could feel his heart pounding loudly against his chest as he realized Youngjae was basically in his embrace, his left arm around the younger's waist, and his right hand and fingers on Youngjae's left cheek.
Youngjae was confused and was about to walk away, but Jinyoung pressed his lips against Youngjae's and held the back of his head gently.
Youngjae gasped and his eyes were wide open, but Jinyoung had his eyes shut and was kissing him so softly that Youngjae didn't want him to stop. He knew it was wrong, though. They were only friends. Only friends. Only friends.
Youngjae finally came to his senses and pushed the older away from him.
"Youngjae, I---"
"Why did you kiss me?"Jinyoung stayed silent, his lips pursed in a straight line and he stared intently into Youngjae's eyes that showed only confusion.
"Youngjae, I... I love you."
