Sophie's POV
"If we make a truce for the prank war and you let me in your band," I say.
He stares at me for a few seconds. "You want to be in my band?"
"Well.. Jaxon wanted my help with the songs you guys do and thought I might be able to help."
"That'd be fine with me. I'll just have to make sure it's okay with the rest of the guys."
"Yeah. Of course," I nod.
"You can come over after we get out of here, if you want to."
"Sounds good."
"Cool." He glances away and looks back at me. "A truce sounds good to me. You might turn my hair into a rainbow if I don't make a truce." He laughs.
"Don't give me any ideas," I joke.
The teacher clears his throat making us turn our attention to him. "Alright kids you can leave."
I get up and grab my bookbag. He stands up and we walk out of the classroom. Once we are in the parking lot, I start to walk home.
"What are you doing?" He asks me.
I turn around to face him. "I'm walking home."
"No, you're not."
"Then how am I going to get there?" I ask putting my hands on my hips.
"I'm driving you," he smirks and gets in his car.
I shouldn't ride home with him.
I sit down in his car and close the door behind me.
Why am I even doing this? Oh yeah I remember now. I'm not going to refuse when a hot, non-creepy guy is going to give me a free ride home.
》THE BAD BOY'S BAND《
"So, you want to be in our band?" Number two asks me.
I jump up on the counter and sit on it. "Well, I'd be more of a manager. I don't have to be in it."
"Band huddle," number one states and they whisper amongst themselves for a minute or so.
"We would like to hear you sing," Ace declares.
"I don't know what to sing."
"Pick the first song that pops in your head," Jaxon says.
Lost Boy by Ruth B flashes in my mind.
"It's kind of sad," I warn and pull it up on YouTube since I don't have it downloaded on my phone.
"I'll plug it up to the speakers," Ace says and extends his hand towards me. I give it to him and he plugs it up. He hands me a microphone, but I don't take it. I shake my head instead. The music starts and I close my eyes.
Deep breaths. Pretend that they aren't here. Just sing.
The song seems to end within seconds, but was actually minutes. I open my eyes to seem them wearing shocked expressions.
"Band huddle," number one states and they do their thing.
They all turn towards me. "Welcome to the band," Ace smirks.
"It's good to be here," I smile.
》THE BAD BOY'S BAND《
"Where have you been?" Dad asks as I walk in the door.
"I had to stay after school," I amswer and kick my shoes off.
"Why didn't you call or text me that you were?"
I stay silent and look down at the ground.
"Do you have a lot of homework?"
"No."
"Good. I need you to clean the house since your brother is coming some time this week."
I nod my head and quickly make my way to my room. My brother won't care if the house is clean or not. I get that Dad works and stuff, but do I really have to clean the house? I throw my bookbag on my bed and start on my homework.
An hour later, I find myself scrolling through Pintrest. I'm just taking a short break and by that I mean a 1 or 2 hour break. I hear footsteps walk towards me and I quickly lock my phone and set it beside me. Dad walks in the room and gives me a look.
"You are on your phone too much." He crosses his arms. "Do you even know how to function without it?"
I keep the tears in and shove my phone towards him. "You want it? Take it. I'll just keep cleaning and do everything you say like the goody two shoes I am." I rush up to my room, close the door, and lock it behind me. I slide down it and hold my head in my hands. I sit there for who knows how long until I finally decide to get up. I wipe the tears off my cheeks and grab some pajamas. After taking a shower, it helped me to feel a little bit better. I walk out of my bathroom and glance out my door. I stare into Ace's eyes and he waves. I wave back and he opens his door. I do the same and step outside.
"You want to hear a joke?"
"Yeah. I could use one."
"What do you call a bear with no teeth?" He asks and leans against his banister.
"What?" I ask and copy is moves.
"A gummy bear," he grins.
I smile and shake my head. "That was pretty good."
"You must be a banana because I find you appealing."
"Oh no. Not pick up lines!" I fake cry.
"I don't have a library card, but can I check you out?"
"Ace, you need to stop." I can feel the heat rising to my cheeks.
"Spohie?" I hear my dad ask outside my door.
My eyes widen and I run back in my room, shut the door, and jump into bed. "Yeah?"
"Can I come in?"
I glance over at my clock. "I'm trying to go to sleep, Dad. I have school tomorrow you know."
"Okay. We'll talk tomorrow."
No. We won't. "Okay."
His footsteps fade away and I close my eyes. I really am exhausted. Soon enough sleep takes over.
