Sophie's POV

The next day at school did not go as planned at all. I was hoping that Ace would talk to Michael, Michael would come back to us, and everything would be okay. Ace did talk to him, but Michael didn't come back to us.

For the next few hours until lunch everything was just different. The rest of us sat at our regular table and started to eat after getting our food. I was stuffing chips into my mouth when the jerk club walked in the cafeteria. Michael said something to the rest of them and then headed our way. When he was close enough he put his hands on the empty chair in front of me.

I sigh and move my feet from the chair to the floor. I sit up in my chair and stare at Michael.

"Why are you staring at me?" He asks and raises an eyebrow.

"Oh no reason," I fake smile. "Wait a second, that's right. You made new friends with a bunch of jerks."

He sighs and looks away from me.

"It's good to make new friends, but make good ones next time."

"You don't even know them!"

"Kinda like I don't know you?"

It's like we are having an argument with our eyes.

"Michael, are you coming or not? I thought you said would be a minute." A guy from the jerk club says as he marches up to him and then he turns to the rest. "Well hello there." He smirks at me and I roll my eyes.

I wave my hand and eat another chip.

"My name is Kevin."

"You are wasting your breath, Kevin." I state.

"What?" He questions.

"You are wasting your breath trying to talk to me. I suggest you just go back to your friends over there and stay there until lunch is over," I explain.

"How am I wasting my breath talking to a hot girl?"

I roll my eyes and stand up. "I'm already in a bad mood. Do you really want to get slapped in the face?"

"You won't slap me," he scoffs.

I laugh. "You wanna bet?"

"Michael, she won't slap me right?"

I glare at Michael and he throws his hands up in surrender. This Kevin guy looks at me cautiously. I take a step closer and he backs up.

"Scared of a girl?" I smile.

"No!" He exclaims and takes a step towards me. "Because I know you won't do anything," he whispers and puts one of his hand on my hips.

I push him away from me and he barely moves. He smirks at me and I slap his face. His smirk disappears and is replaced by disbelief.

"Hey! What is going on here?" A teacher exclaims as she rushes up to us.

"I gave a warning and he touched me first."

"You both are you going to the office."

"Can I go as a witness?" Ace asks.

"No."

"So, what happened?" My brother asks.

Turns out my dad wasn't home, but Daniel was when the school called.

"I slapped a guy and I got a warning. He got 3 days out."

"What did he do?"

"I was in a mood. I gave him a warning and he put his hand on my hip. Then I slapped him and a teacher came running."

"Who's the guy?"

I shrug. "He said his name was Kevin before I slapped him."

"I'll beat him up for you."

"Don't bother. It will be a waste of your time."

"Not if it meant saving my little sister," he says and gives me a hug.

"Aww! You are so sweet!"

"I know." He grins and I laugh. "So, what's going on with you and our neighbor?"

I shrug. "I like him. He likes me. That's about it. Oh and we have a date Friday after school."

"A date? No. I need to meet him first."

"Daniel, you have already met him."

"Yeah, but not officially."

"Fine. Do you really want to meet him that bad?"

"Yes!"

"Follow me." I quickly put on my tennis shoes and he does the same. Then we walk over to Ace's house and I knock on the door.

It opens and we are met by Ace. "How many times do I have to tell you that you don't have to knock?"

I roll my eyes. "I would have walked right in, but my brother wants to meet you."

Ace looks over at Daniel for the first time and Ace tenses up.

"So, I hear you are going on a date with my little sister." Daniel crosses his eyes.

Oh great. He is trying to act tough and scary.

Ace nods. "That's right."

"What's your name?"

"Ace Farris."

"Daniel Green."

"Nice to meet you."

"You too." Daniel just stares at him which makes things more awkward. "Do you play video games?"

"Yeah," Ace nods. "You want to play something?"

"Sure."
