Ace's POV
"I was wondering if you would be my date." She says while staring into my eyes.
"Say yes!" My mom exclaims as she peeks her head inside the den.
"Mom! What are you doing?" I feel heat flow through my cheeks.
"Um. I was just uh.. looking for.. Max. Yeah! I was looking for Max. Have you seen him?" Mom smiles and looks satisfied with her answer even though I'm pretty sure she was really spying on us.
"Mom, he's outside."
"Oh, that's right! I'm going to go let him inside." She says and leaves the room. "Say yes!" She yells not even 30 seconds later.
I turn my head towards Sophie and she is grinning.
"I love your mom. You wanna know why?"
"Why?"
"Because even if you were planning on saying no before, she is going to make you go now."
I groan. "And she will always take your side of the story instead of my own."
Sophie laughs evily and I kiss her forehead.
"I want to be your date to Valerie's wedding," I whisper in her ear.
"And I want to cuddle right now," she whispers in my ear.
I kiss her forehead again and lay down on my stomach. She lays on top of me which is actually really comfortable.
"What do you love birds want to watch?" Becky asks.
"I don't know. What do you have Ace?" Sophie says.
"What ever is on TV and all the movies that are on the shelf," I answer.
Becky gets up and looks through the movies. "You have Star Wars!?" Becky exclaims.
"Yeah," I reply calmly.
"Ahh! I love those movies!" Sophie exclaims.
"Me too!" Becky exclaims.
》THE BAD BOY'S BAND《
"I'm hungry," Sophie states less than half way through the first movie.
"Then go get something," Becky says.
"I'm not getting up."
"Make Ace get you something."
"That would require me to move so no."
"Fine. What do you want? I'll get it."
"Popcorn."
Becky gets up and walks out then back in. "I don't know where the popcorn is."
I give Hunter a look and nod towards Becky. His eyes widen and he shakes his head. I raise an eyebrow. He blows out a breath of air and stands up. "I'll help you get it," he says.
Hunter's POV
I lead the way to the kitchen and open the cabinet with the popcorn. I grab the box and set it on the counter. "So, this is the popcorn." I say and mentally kick myself.
Why would you say that? Obviously she knows that's a box of popcorn because it says POPCORN.
"How many bags should I make?" She asks as she puts the first one in the microwave. "Sophie will eat a bag by herself and so will I."
"Ace and I will too. Four bags, I guess."
She nods and sits on the counter. "So, do you have a girlfriend, Hunter?"
"No." I answer and shake my head. Why does she want to know if I have a girlfriend or not? Does she like me? Should I ask her if she has a boyfriend? No, obviously she doesn't if she asked me if I have a girlfriend. She is still staring at me. Oh gosh! What am I supposed to do?
"Do I have something on my face?" I question.
She grins and shakes her head. She jumps off the counter and takes the popcorn out of the microwave. "You are distracting me. I could have burnt the popcorn!"
"Um. I'm sorry."
She places another bag of popcorn and turns towards. "Hunter, I was just being funny." She smiles. "Loosen up a little bit." She takes my hand and lifts it above her head. She spins herself around and I grin.
"I'm sorry. I'm not used to having girls come close to me unless it was Sophie and even then it wasn't much." I say as I dance around the kitchen with her.
"Stop saying sorry, Hunter."
"I'm so-. Okay."
She let's go of me and takes another bag of popcorn out of the microwave then replaces it with a new bag. "Tell me about yourself." She states as she sits on the counter again.
"I'm 17 years old. I'm the guitar player in Ace's band. I live with my dad. I haven't ever had a serious relationship and I haven't dated since back in middle school. What about you?"
"I'm almost 17. I'm in a dance group. I live with my mom. I haven't dated since my last boyfriend back in my freshman year."
"Do you mind me asking what happened?"
She shakes her head. "There was this senior that was a student worker in one of my classes and I had a crush on him. We would catch eye contact with each other sometimes, but other than that nothing happened, until one day. He came to my locker and just started talking to me. I thought he wanted to talk to me because he wanted to know me and liked me, but he really just wanted to get in my pants."
"Well, he was pretty stupid to do that because he lost an amazing girl."
She shrugs. "I guess it just gives others a chance to have me."
After the all bags of popcorn are popped and in bowls, we start walking to the den.
"So, will you be my date to my mom's wedding?"
The exact moment after the words leave her mouth, I trip over my own two feet and popcorn flies all over the place.
"Alright, Becky. You told me Ace and I couldn't do anything. So, why are you and Hunter covered in popcorn?" Sophie says.
"Stupid gravity," I mutter to myself and stand up. I look over and see popcorn in Becky's hair and on her clothes. I rub my hair and tilt my head towards the ground. Popcorn falls to the ground.
"All I did was ask Hunter to be my date for my mom's wedding."
"Well, to answer your question," I start to say. "I'll be your date."
