Ace's POV
"Have any of you seen Sophie today?" I ask.
"No."
"Nope."
"Me neither," Hunter says and shakes his head.
"Should we still perform if she isn't here?"
"We still have tomorrow."
"But people would ask why we didn't perform." Hunter says and I run my hand through my hair.
What am I supposed to do?
"Hello. Is your name Ace?" A woman around my mom's age asks.
"Um. Yeah." I answer hesitantly and glance around the school's hallways.
She grins. "Nice to meet you! I'm Sophie's favorite aunt, Valerie!"
"Oh, hello, Valerie."
"You and your friends are so cute!"
"Um, thanks." I scratch the back of my neck. "Do you know where Sophie is?"
"Oh! That's what I needed to tell you. She told me to tell you that she will be here later and that she has a surprise for you."
"Okay. Well, it was nice meeting you."
She nods and smiles. She stares at us for a minute or two and then her phone rings. She pulls it out and answers. "Hello, this is Valerie." She pauses. "It's okay. They like me." She pauses. "Fine. Here he is." She hands the phone to me.
I take it hesitantly. "Hello?"
"I'm sorry that you had to meet my aunt like this. She is kind of crazy."
"Oh, it's okay. A little awkward, but not too bad."
"Uh-huh. Tell her that you have to go to class and then run or she will not leave."
"Okay. When are you coming to school?"
"As quick as I can which will probably be when your mini concert starts."
"Okay."
"SOPHIE, GET OFF THE PHONE WITH YOUR BOYFRIEND!" Someone screams into the phone.
"I have to go. See you later."
She hangs up and I give Valerie her phone back. "We have to go to class now. Bye."
》THE BAD BOY'S BAND《
"How long until Sophie gets here?" Jaxon asks.
"I don't know."
"We could go ahead and start."
"But all of this is for her," I say.
"Is it really helping?" Michael questions.
"You have never been in love so don't act like you know what you are talking about." I snap at him.
"Guys, just stop." Jaxon states and gets in between us.
"Let's just go sing," Hunter says.
Jaxon opens the curtains and we get in our designated places. "Sophie, isn't here yet, but we are going to go ahead and start this thing."
As soon as I finished saying that sentence, the doors burst open. Sophie runs through the doors on the left side and another girl runs through the doors on the right side. Sophie and the girl run up on stage. The other girl goes backstage. Sophie runs up to me and covers the microphone.
"Do you want me to start and then you guys perform? I have a song to do for the end too."
"Sure. I guess you will go and then we will do a song and then you come back for a finale."
"Okay. Sounds good." She says and hugs me.
The crowd awes and a few whistles are in the mix too. We let go and the girl from earlier sets up a keyboard. The guys and I go into the audience and sit in the front row. Sophie clears her throat.
"So, I'm going to be singing for you guys today. I hope all of you like it, especially Ace."
She still has an angel's voice. I can't believe she is singing Fall Out Boy! She is so good!
She finishes the song and clapping erupts throughout the entire auditorium.
I stand and clap along. She comes down from the stage and I hug her. "You did so great, Soph."
"Thanks, Ace."
Hunter and I go up to the stage and start singing Treat You Better by Shawn Mendes.
