Lost it All

(SAMMI’S POV)

I sit on Jinxx’s lap, CC sits on the floor next to us and Jake starts pacing around the room.

The heart monitor is going as normal, then pauses longer than usual.  All that comes after that is one long, solid, steady beep.  I immediately start to cry and bury my head in Jinxx’s chest.  CC goes and pushes the button to call the nurse as Jake goes to tell Ashley’s parents.

We sit there, staring at her as if willing her to come back.  Ashley then runs in (well, more like drunkenly stumbles) with his parents close behind, telling him to go back to the bed.

“Carter, Carter, Carter,” he sobs as he strokes her hair.  He fell to his knees.  “NO! CARTER COME BACK!” He cries.  He continues to cry and talk to her, trying to coax her.

“Ash, she is gone,” Andy says as he walks in.

 “Carter, I love you! Don’t leave me! Please!” He says, holding her hand.  He then kisses her head as a nurse rushes in.  She has several people carry Ash back to his room and put him back in his bed.

(CARTER’S POV)

I can hear Ash screaming, a long beep, and a lot of crying. 

What happened?

“NO! CARTER COME BACK!” I hear Ash scream.  What?

“Ash, she is gone,” I hear Andy’s deep voice say.

WHAT?!

NO!!!

I start to feel like I am drowning.

NO!

Never give in, never back down.

I have to get back to Ashley.

Come on, come on, Ashley I’m coming to you, I will not leave.

“Carter, I love you! Don’t leave me! Please!” he whispers.  I feel his cold snakebites on my hand before he is pulled away.

I won’t leave.  I promise.  I try to fight back up, back to my love.  I try and try.

Finally I gasp.  The long beep is replaced by short beeps going in a nice march.

“What-?” I hear a voice say, I think it is Jinxx.

I open my eyes to see Sammi hovering above me.

“OHMYGOD YOUWEREDEAD!” she screams at me.  “JAKE GET ASH!”

Ash comes in and hugs me, we stay like that until he leans away just enough to kiss me.  I feel the icy nip of his piercing on my lips.  I am so happy, over happy.  I am ecstatic.

(ASHLEY’S POV)

“Car-“I started to say.  She had fallen back to sleep.  I was about to call a nurse, when suddenly I remembered what the websites had said about cataplexy.  Falling asleep with strong emotions.  Right.

We sit there, waiting.   After about fifteen minutes, we decide to let her rest.  As I kissed her head, her eyes flew open.

“Don’t leave,” she whispered.  I sat down next to her.  Sammi and Jinxx decided to go check on Meri and go home for the night.  Juliet, who I hear hadn’t visited once, begged Andy to go home.  He hasn’t escaped yet, but texts Jinxx, Jake, and CC several times a day to check on everyone.  Jake had to go feed his and Ashley’s dogs, so it was just CC and I left with Carter, who had fallen back asleep.
