(((Two months later (Christmas Eve))))

(CARTER’S POV)

“Caarrrttttteeeerrrr,” I hear someone say and poke my nose.

“What?” I say, rolling over.

“C’mon, Meri gets home today,” Ash says.

“Meh,” I say, rolling over, again.

“C’mon, we have a date tonight, too,” he says, picking me up.

“Ash, what the fuck? Lemme sleep,” I say, burying my head in his chest.

“Nope,” he said, popping the ‘p’.

“Asshole,” I muttered.

“Love you, too,” he says, kissing my nose.

His parents were out shopping for dinner and last minutes gifts and War and Anthony went on a date and to do shopping, as well.  We just sat on the couch, me sitting on him and burying my head in his chest.  We watched several movies until Ash looked at my phone.  It said 15:30.

“Dammit, Carter, can you explain to me what time it is?” he asks.

“Gah, its 3:30,” I say, rolling my eyes and poking him.

“Ow! And go get ready, we are going out tonight,” he says as he kisses me.

“Okay,” I say, poking him on the cheek.

I go upstairs and wear my black dress that had a blood red lace skirt and matching gloves.  I wear my choker and the locket Meri got me.  They actually went together pretty well.  I teased and straitened my hair as usual and did smokey eye makeup.  I finished off the look with blood red lipstick.

I go downstairs to see Ash is wearing black dress pants and a black button down shirt.  He has a loose fitting blood red tie on, as well.  His hair is spiked and straitened and his makeup is like it usually is.

“Ready to go, pretty lady,” he said.  His eyes shimmered as he said that, giving them the look of a freshly watered plant.

“I am,” I say, hoping that I wasn’t dressed too fancy.

We listen to music the whole way there.  As we pull up, I see that it isn’t as fancy of an Italian restaurant as he took me on our first date.  I can’t say that I was disappointed.  I didn’t feel under or overdressed here, which was nice.

“I love you,” Ash said as we finished our meals.  I had fettuccini Alfredo and he had spaghetti.

“I love you, too,” I say.

Ash suddenly stood up.  He looked at me and got down on one knee.  “Carter Legacy Black, I love you to the moon and back. We have been through thick and thin.  We have made new friends and reconnected with old ones.  We have helped others and accepted plenty of help ourselves.  Will you marry me?”  He asks, tears in his eyes.

“YES! Oh my god, ASHLEY PAWS YES!!” I say, tackling him in a huge hug.  The restaurant erupted into cheers.  I felt myself blush.  I’m glad I took my medicine that lowered my chance of falling asleep.  Ash and I stand there, hugging.

We walk to the car, hand in hand.  As we get in the car and listen to the music.  “The Mortician’s Daughter” comes on.

“… I love you more than I can ever scream…” I say after Andy.

“I love you, too, Mrs. Paws,” Ash whispers, kissing my head.  I admired the ring for the first time.  The band was all black with a deep blood red diamond that had two dragon heads holding it in place.
