(ASHLEY’S POV)

I was in my bedroom, sitting on the bed, when I hear someone come home and run to the restroom.  Must have been Carter, Jake made her try sushi last night, and she loved it.  So, naturally she ate two whole containers and kept puking the rest of the night.

My phone started ringing just then.

“Yello?” I ask.

“Ashley! Meri just went in to labor! Can you call Carter and tell her? I tried but it went straight to voicemail!” Andy yelled.

“Yeah! Hold on! We will be there in a few!”  I said, I ran to Carter’s bathroom.

“Carter? You home?” I ask, knocking.  No reply.  I heard sobbing and the sound of something hitting the floor.

“Carter?!” I say again, knocking louder.  “CARTER?! ARE YOU IN HERE?!” I say as I barge in the door. “OHMYGOD CART-“I started to say as I looked at the scene in front of me.  Carter lay, her head on the side of the bathtub, barely breathing.  Her arm was slumped over the tub, not visible from where I was standing.  Her other arm was resting on a stack of papers.  Then I saw something glisten in the hand that was on the papers.

“Oh, fuck!” I yelled, taking my shirt off and wrapping it around her arm, which had several huge gashes that were bleeding, a lot.  I then carried her, bridal style, to the car and sped off to the hospital.  The radio was playing and I hear the song “Never Too Late” by Three Days Grace.

“This world will never be

What I expected

And if I don't belong

Who would have guessed it

I will not leave alone

Everything that I own

To make you feel like it's not too late

It's never too late

Even if I say

It'll be alright

Still I hear you say

You want to end your life

Now and again we try

To just stay alive

Maybe we'll turn it all around

'Cause it's not too late

It's never too late

No one will ever see

This side reflected

And if there's something wrong

Who would have guessed it

And I have left alone

Everything that I own

To make you feel like

It's not too late

It's never too late

Even if I say

It'll be alright

Still I hear you say

You want to end your life

Now and again we try

To just stay alive

Maybe we'll turn it all around
