(CHRIS’S POV)
We started to walk back to the cars. I tried to call Carter. She didn’t answer any of my calls, which was weird. Carter hated missing calls.
“Andy!” I yelled.
“What’s up?” he asked as he jogged over to me.
“Have you seen Carter?” I ask him, worry dripping from my words.
“No, I thought you said she was on a walk?” he said, puzzled.
“Yeah, but she won’t answer her phone.”
“Shit. Austin!” Andy yelled. He explained everything I just told him to Austin.
“Let’s go look in the city, her phone might just be dead,” he says. We texted the guys, telling them to keep an eye out and check the BVB house. We then walked into the city with our hoods up.
We were walking in silence, glancing down every alley. Suddenly we looked into one of the alleys and saw men. We heard a scream and ran as fast as we could to the cries. There was a girl curled in a ball clutching her cheek and a man standing over her. Andy and I grabbed the man and Andy held him while I punched him in the gut. The man and his goons ran, leaving only Andy, Austin, the girl, and I in the dark alley.
“Chris!” Austin shouted. I ran over to him and looked at the girl. Her raven hair was messily covering her face. I kneeled down and moved the hair, only to be met with all too familiar ice blue eyes.
“Oh, Kitty,” I whispered as I picked her up.
“Carter, what happened?” Andy questioned.
“D-Damon,” was all she said before she burst out crying, clutching her cheek.
Andy just nodded and Austin called Alan to pick us up.
“Shh, it will be okay,” Andy whispers to her as he examines his cheek. I can see his eyes filled with anger and hatred.
Alan and Vic pulled up just then. We all got in the back of the car and had Carter stretch out on our laps. She fell asleep right as we got to the BVB house. Austin helped me get her out of the car. I carried her up to her room and carefully remover her boots and hoodie. I then tied her hair back out of her face and did my best to clean her makeup. Before I walked out of the room I kissed her cheek.
“I love you, Kitty,” I whispered to her.

(CARTER’S POV)
My face hurt. I curled into a tighter ball on the guy’s laps and fell asleep. I woke when someone pulled me up and carried me to my room.
I let whoever it was take my boots and hoodie off. I then felt my hair being pulled back and a cool, wet cloth on my face. I felt a kiss on my cheek.
“I love you, Kitty,” I heard Chris’s unmistakable voice say. Then the door shut.
I sighed and rolled on my side, the one that wasn’t bruised.

I woke up the next morning and changed out of my clothes from yesterday. I put on some sweat pants and a cami and walked over to my mirror. I winced at the sight. Almost my entire right cheek was purple. I lightly touched it and winced again.
Sighing, I walked down the stairs to see Chris passed out on one couch, Austin on the other.
I walked to the kitchen and grabbed an ice pack, wrapped it in a cloth, and walked back to the living room. I sat in one of the recliners and looked at the time. 7:17. The guys wouldn’t be up for at least another hour. I grabbed my iPod and listened to “Cats in the Cradle” by Harry Chapin and sighed.
