The water Dragon Slayer and the Exceed were on their way to their last task, which was defeating a legendary Dragon that had be living for more than 400 years. At first, they were quite hesitant because, one: blue was a Dragon Slayer and did not want to cause any harm to the Dragons, and two: blossom was afraid of them she encountered one that nearly killed her during a solo mission. But in the end, they decided to accomplish the task because they had came a long way to become SS-Class mages.
One morning, blue and blossom were walking through a beautiful forest. It was a lovely combination of different shades of green with patches of light coming through the trees. Birds and insects performed their melodies so that the place was not silent. As they continued their journey deep inside the forest, the ground, trees and animals were dead but there was no sign of what took their life away. "What happened?" wondered blue as she and the Exceed stopped to look at the dead plants.
"Call me insane, but I feel some kind of Dark Magic lingering on them." stated blossom . "Though judging by them, the user must be regretful to kill them."
She raised an eyebrow at her. "How did you know?"
"My clan had another Secret Art, Magic Story." he began. "Although we can't tell what specific magic is used, we can sense how did the user cast it, whether intentionally or hesitantly. For this case, the user seemed to have lost control of his or her magic."
"I guess if we continue, we can probably help them." said blue.
They continued to walk through the dead part of the forest. Soon, they came across a crystal clear lake that sparkled from the sunlight. There, they noticed a young man sleeping on the ground in a relaxed state. He wore a high-collared black and tan robes with gold trim along with a large, flowing white toga draped around his torso. He had short black hair and also wore a circle-shaped necklace. Being curious, they walked towards him until when they were a yard away from him, the man's eyes shot open upon noticing their presence. He quickly stood up and stuck his hand out as if to stop them from moving, which they did. "No!" he suddenly shouted. "D-Don't come near me!"
"Why not?" asked the clueless blue as the two took a step towards him.
"I don't you two to get hurt like everyone else!" His hands dropped to his side. His head was down and his hair covered his face. The two across him waited patiently until they felt Dark Magic around them. The man brought his hands up to his head in pain. "Go! get out of here before you get hurt! I can't control my magic!" But the two stood on their ground calmly despite his begging and pleadings.
Suddenly, a dark circle formed around him. "Death Magic." said blossom , recognizing the magic but had no fear.
"I take it that all I have to do is cancel out his magic." said blue, earning a nod from her. She disappeared and suddenly appeared in front of the man with a blink of an eye. "Water Dragon's Lock!" Holding an extended hand out at him, the man was trapped inside a giant ball of water, canceling out the spell he was about to cast. Once the black miasma disappeared to reveal him, she released the ball and went over to help him sit up right against a nearby tree with blossom behind her. He sat there for awhile, coughing up water and trying to catch his own breath while she gently pat his back.
"W-Why didn't you kill me?" he asked, looking at her with sad eyes.
"Why would you want to die?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.
"You saw it on the way here, didn't you?" he said. "I kill things endlessly. I just want it to stop!" Tears started to flow down from his eyes.
blue just watched him with pity. "Blossom." she said without looking at her companion.
