The battle over the Infinity Clock was over and the escaped members of Oracion Seis had been returned to prison. However, due to the brave actions of Natsu and rest notwithstanding, the guild's reputation continued to plummet. During that period, blue  and blossom  went on a ten-year quest while Altair  went to a different one at the same time. Upon hearing what had happened, they tried their ultimate best to hide from people and pretend that they were not from Fairy Tail.

By the time they returned to the guild, they saw Romeo arguing with his father. "We're gonna be in it!" argued the boy. "We're gonna! We're gonna! We're gonna!"

"No, we're not!" protested Macao. "We're not! We're not! We're not! I refuse to give permission! We're never gonna take part in that again!"

"You don't have the right to decide that anymore, Dad! You're not the master!"

"I'm speaking as a member of the guild!"

"What's all the fuss about, d'aho?" asked blossom .

"Just looks like an argument between father and son to me..." replied Carla, trailing off.

"Who doesn't want to participate?!" asked Macao before raising his hand. "Me!"

"Me!" the rest followed his action.

"That's the one thing I don't wanna do again." said Alzack with his hands raised.

"It'll just expose us to ridicule..." added Bisca.

"But now we've got the Tenrou group!" argued Romeo. "We've got Natsu-nii and Erza-nee! Blue-nee is back too! How could Fairy Tail lose?!"

"But the Tenrou's group got a seven-year blank!" complained Warren.

"What's this about being in it or not?" asked Natsu.

"Natsu-nii, while you guys were gone, a festival started up to decide the number one guild in Fiore." explained Romeo.

"That sounds like fun!" said the pink haired man with excitement.

"All the guilds in Fiore will gather and compete with each other with their magic!" added the young boy. "It's called the Grand Magic Games!"

"Grand Magic Games?" repeated Lucy with excitement.

"It sounds like fun!" added Wendy.

"Like a real festival!" said Gray.

"I see..." trailed off Erza with a smile. "Right now, the number one guild in Fiore is said to be Sabertooth, right?"

"That's right!" said Romeo. "If we beat Sabertooth and win the games, we'll become Fiore's number one guild!"

"But..." trailed off Makarov. "I don't know if you guys are strong enough to pull that off right now..."

"That's right!" agreed Macao. "Exactly!"

"If we win, the guild gets 30 million jewels as a reward!" added Romeo.

Makarov and Altair  exchanged secretly shared mischievous looks before the guild master said, "My mind is a bit fuzzy now. Why don't you tell us your opinion, Altair ."

"We're in it." was his answer.

"Altair !" whined Macao.

"It's impossible!" protested Droy. "Between Pegasus and Lamia..."

"Sabertooth isn't our only enemy!" added Warren.

"Incidentally, in past festivals, we were always in the last place." mentioned Jet.

"Don't be proud of that!" scolded Elfman.

"We'll take that crummy record and destroy it." said blue with a smirk.
