As I left the carpark , I realized my mind was pretty dizzy and I was just lost. The National Hospital was located at the central while i lived at the west so it would take me like twenty minutes to eventually reach there so i just decided to hit the pedal. You must be wondering , how on earth is a 46 year old car going to just speed away?

Well, I had my whole car reconditioned and modified. So it was everything modern fitted into an old chassis and a sleek 46 year old body. As I knew it, I was speeding along the expressway and I was sure to have crossed the speed limit but for that one instance, I did not care about anything.

Deep down inside I had this feeling that everyone was going to blame me for whatever had happen because if i had refused him to go the other day then maybe just maybe he might be at home safe and sound.

So for a 20 minutes road, I reached the hospital in half the time. Thankfully I found a parking lot and hurriedly park. I just got out of the car and bolted towards the main entrance. When I reached there, I saw dozens of patients here and there. I must say , the hospital was very crowded that day. I progressed ahead only to be interrupted by a nurse. She asked,

"Hi Sir, how may i help you?"

I could only manage the words "Reception Counter"

Maybe seeing the worried look i had in my face, she volunteered to assist me to my desired venue. Upon reaching there, I only felt mentally stressed out. Both worried for him and also the thought that i might have been responsible kept on daunting me. The lady in the counter was very friendly.

She spoke," Good afternoon Sir, how may I assist you?"

I just replied "David."

i wanted to say a full sentence but all that manage to come out of my mouth was his name. But before I could anything more, the lady at the reception replied,

"ward no. 504, level 9, bed 5 located at the end of the ward. take the lift and then turn left and walk straight ahead."

It was like she knew what I was trying to say. I was extremely surprised at the way she managed to know what i was looking for just by telling her his name. With my mind set on meeting him, I walked to the lift that the lady from the reception showed me and I just blindly followed her instruction.

It didn't take me time to reach the 9th floor and It took me an even shorter time to reach his ward. As I pressed the door knob, I could feel my palms were sweating and my heartbeat had increased so much that i felt like anytime now , my heart will just pop out from my mouth.

With all the energy I had, I pushed the doorknob down and shoved the door to allow me to enter the ward.

I clearly remembered the gush of cold air that shoved me. it was so cold I felt like it had froze my spine. I took large but careful steps looking for bed 5 when I finally found it. I took a deep breadth and with all my strength i muscled the curtain that was covering his bed. What I saw next shocked me to the maximum.

I was out of breadth and most importantly I was speechless. I was baffled at what I was seeing and the thoughts that filled me the very next moment got me petrified.

He was there!
