David's parents had finally arrived!

As I reached the door, the Suzanne thought was still ringing in my mind and I did not even think about who might be on the other side of that door. I was just so engrossed in my thoughts that I did not even realize that I had opened the door. I was brought back to reality when I heard Luke's voice.

"Hey Omar! You alright?"

I simply responded, "Yes"

He began by introducing me David's parents, "Omar, this is Mr and Mrs. Imran; David's parents."

I greeted them and introduced myself to them and invited both of them in. Both of his parents looked tired so I offered them the other guest room that was available and told them to freshen up before we sat down and talked. Just before they made way to the guest room, they asked me,

"How is David? Your friend says that the two of you are investigating together? I hope we find the cause of this accident as soon as possible and make sure justice is served, no?"

" Yes Mrs. Imran. And David is splendid and is experiencing a fast recovery. Doctors say that he will be released by the end of the month but it is really tentative depending on his speed of recovery. " was all I could say when Luke interrupted and asked them to freshen up while. I decided to order lunch from outside considering the fact that it was already nearing 4 and I didn't have anything to eat.

Just as I finished ordering food for 4, Luke approached me and asked me,

"What happened to you just now?"

I looked at him and my heartbeat started to increase and i started to feel very scared. It was like I was very afraid to tell him. Probably because i thought he might have judged me or probable because deep down inside i knew this was the truth and wasn't sure if he was ready to even hear it.

You are possibly thinking how in the world would Luke get affected by this? Well, Luke and Suzanne were close friends back in Primary school and they knew each other. And trust me when I say this, and no one would like it when someone else points fingers at his own friend.

Thinking about all this, I decided to not tell him the reason now. I figured once we have enough and more proof than this circumstantial evidence , I will tell him myself. Basically i was waiting for the right time to approach him about this.

By the time food had arrived, Mr and Mrs. Imran had already freshen up and were waiting for us at the living room. As we ate, no one spoke. It was getting rather awkward and that Is when Luke finally broke the deadlock . He asked them about the conference and how it was going and also apologized that they had to leave everything undone and come back here.

Their facial expressions showed one thing. The desire to meet their son. So we quickly finished up our lunch and left for the hospital. I drove because it felt like ages since I last drove. As we reached the hospital, Mr Imran couldn't stop thanking us about how we are sacrificing our own time to look after David in their absence.

I felt delighted actually because it was not a regular thing that I got appreciated for something that I did out of true heart and without a selfish agenda.

By the time we arrived at the hospital, It was around 6pm. Visiting hours would have been closed by now but i managed to get a special appointment with the hospital to let us into the ward as I explained to them that his parents will be flying in and it was important that they let us meet. With that we went to his ward and there he was, David.

The moment his mom saw him, she teared up and I could see the relief in her eyes. She said in a soft and caring tone,

"David, my child!"
