Silence...

Silence filled the garage as we tried to absorb what we had just heard from Mr Rick. We finally managed to absorb. The eerie silence in broad daylight was still present and it was not a good feeling at all. As the seconds passed on, the eerie silence continued and it soon became very awkward. It was like we had nothing to ask in the first place. That is when Luke decided to speak and ask him about the paint residue on the back of the car that we suspect might have been left off from the car that collided with him.

Thank God!

Luke saved us from the massive awkwardness we were facing at that point of time. As Mr Rick gestured us to follow him to David's car, all I could think was that we were finally going to solve this case. It could not have gotten any better than this. I was getting impatient. As we stood beside David's car, Mr Rick began to talk.

"Omar, it took me a painstaking three hours to figure out the color of the other car. It is red. Like cherry red kind of color"

"How can you be so sure?" I said with a perplexed look on my face.

"Well kiddo, as far as i can see, from the research I did, I can safely say that the person knew the exact locations of the CCTV cameras and he knew exactly where to hit his vehicle and to dodge the cameras. To do that, he would have to hit with a lot of force. So much force that it actually planted a lot of paint residue into David's car. But since the impact was huge, the residue was exerted very deep into the car. So all I had to do was to dig deeper and that is how I figured it out."

"Great!" I replied.

"Sir, if you do not mind, can we leave David's car at your garage please? David will be released from hospital in hopefully a few days and till then, i am not so sure where to put his car. So if it is alright then..."

"Sure! Not a problem at all."

We then bid farewell and left. We had accomplished something so big that we could not wait to tell David. Since Luke was driving my car, I asked him to head towards the hospital so that we could pay David a little visit. We have been relatively busy for the past few days and have not been able to meet up with him or at least it felt that way. Nevertheless, we used this as an opportunity to meet up with him.

This way i could have a word with the doctor himself and also catch up with David. The hospital was not far from the garage that we went to. We reached there in no time and walked leisurely towards David's ward. On the way, we decided to buy some get well soon flowers from the store. David's life had been relatively dull for the past few days.

We once also thought of letting our close friends know about his condition but then thought that we could trust on one. So the idea of people knowing that he is at the hospital was best left quiet for some time.

As we approached the ward, we were quite happy yet quite worried. I was contemplating whether i should tell anyone about this or not. School would be opening soon and i figured sooner or later, i would have to tell everyone what had been happening for the past few days. As I entered the pathway that lead to the ward, the familiar smell of hand sanitizers welcomed me yet another time. It was an odd feeling but I knew that once this was all over, I would definitely miss this.

These frequent trips to and from the hospital, the investigation board at my house. All these stuff going on in my life was sure bad but deep down inside, I knew that I was going to miss everything and that this incident would be etched onto my mind for probably the rest of my life.

We were in no hurry for the first time and decided to slowly take our time to go to his ward. Luke and I was in absolutely no hurry to meet up with him. As we were walking towards his ward, David's doctor called out to me from my back. I turned around just to be greeted by her friendly smile.

"Hi Doc! I actually wanted to meet you. To discuss about David." I said in a very enthusiastic tone.

"Well yes! I have good news for you! David can be released next Monday. I just finished doing some tests and he is recovering at a very good rate. I am surprised too 'cause he is recovering at a very fast rate. However, if there is any delay in any part of his body, we might have to detain him for a little while longer." the doctor replied.

"That is great! Its okay I understand doc." as Luke punched the air.

We talked about other formalities and then we headed for David's room. As we were about to open the door to David's room, I could hear some chattering going on.

"Wow, who could that be?" I thought to myself as I opened the door.

I could not believe what I saw.

Yet again, Life gave me another shock...
