12. Mr Imran

Shocked and Surprised!

David was surprised!

He did not expect his parents to come and that too at such a time. It was a good and effective surprise that Luke and I had planned. Yes, he was indeed surprised, David knew how workaholic both his parents were and at one point of time, I'm guessing, he lost the hope that his parents were going to come and see him.

One thing for sure that i just realized, David had never talked to us about his family. And what was even weirder than that was the fact that we actually never even asked at the first place. I actually felt very bad because I knew that he was longing for his parents but just did not know how to say it.

Luke and I decided to give them some personal space and the two of us left the room and waited outside. Suddenly flashbacks started happening especially about the fact that Suzanne was one of the suspects that I think could have been involved or might have played a huge part in the attempt to murder David.

Yes that's right. Ever since I sort of tried thinking like David, the chances of it being an accident seemed lot lesser that what I had thought before. I knew the stakes were higher but when I saw the smile in David's face after so long, I found a motivation and also a reason to find out who the killer was.

I knew it was not an unintentional accident. I knew it was a deliberate attempt to injure someone and in this case it was my friend David. It must have been a while because what brought me back to reality was when Mr Imran called out my name.

He informed me that David wanted to talk to us and that too privately. So they volunteered to take our place outside the ward while me and Luke decided to go visit David and also see what was so important and urgent. As we entered the ward, the smell of hand sanitizers welcomed us in. As we entered the room and made way to his bed, I could only think about the list of suspects that I have accumulated in my brains ever since I tried to think like David.

Thinking like David really had given the most of The missing pieces of evidence that I was looking for and it even answered some of the questions that I had about this whole incident. When we reached David's bed, he was sitting down. I just realized that his forehead plaster had been removed and that had exposed a significant part of the scar on his forehead.

He was smiling at us when we reached his bed. But that changed to a rather emotional face and a tear welled up in his eyes.

"Thank you guys! I owe you one... For everything that you guys have done for me and also bringing my parents. I really did not even expect them to make it but you guys made that possible and I'll forever be indebted to you guys!"

I felt honored but I knew that this wasn't the time to feel pleased with myself. So Luke and I decided to speak to him all about what I had found out.

I told them everything that I found out except for the fact that I suspected Suzanne. I told David,
"Bro, this was not an unintentional accident. It was done deliberately. The whole accident was orchestrated by someone who doesn't like you. I have a list of suspects but I'm going to need some more time before I can tell you anything else."

David knew he could trust us and decided to not ask us anything else about it. We decided to call Mr and Mrs. Imran back into the room And we decided to do some friendly chatter. We talked about the conference Mr and Mrs. Imran had gone to and we talked about how much they loved their jobs. to be honest, almost he entire conversation was based on their work and how they travel all around the world. Luke also talked about his job as a police officer and the perks of it.

I too talked about my university life and how I wanted to become a naval architect. The conversation we had, it made me miss my parents. They were overseas and I realized we haven't had a proper conversation for some time.

Mr and Mrs. Imran was just going to stay for a few days so I offered them my guest house so this way it will be convenient for them but they voted for the hotel near the hospital and said they preferred the hotel. I didn't argue.

As I drove them back to my house to collect their luggage's, we kept in talking about all different types of things except for David. it was like everyone was trying to avoid the topic regarding David's accident and the fact that they were investigating. Just as we were about to reach my house, Mrs. Imran finally spoke about David.

"Omar, I know you and Luke is taking care of David and his case. I trust the two of you immensely and therefore we won't interfere. But if you ever need anything subsequently or in the near future, you know where to find us."

I was rather moved by the way she talked to me. It was a first time that I managed to gain the trust of a person in less than a day. Well, I was never the best of persons so maybe god was giving me a opportunity to become a better person.

I happily replied," thank you aunty for believing in me and also trusting us so much."

And we reached my home. As they entered my house, they finally asked me about the investigations. So I decided to show them the room which I was using to investigate. They seemed pretty impressed about it and left wishing me good luck.

By the time I dropped them at the hotel and reached home, it was 12 midnight and I realized Luke was still up surfing his laptop.

"dinner on the table Omar!" he screamed as I went to the washroom. I quickly changed and the two of us had dinner and talked until it was around 2am when we finally decided to call it a night.

"Good night Omar!"

"Good night Luke! Have a good sleep! I'll see you tomorrow. "

And I crashed on my bed for a good night's sleep...
