It had been about four months since K.C and Kolby had shipped out and so far, K.C and Brantley had talked every night, or morning for her. Up until about a week ago. Brantley had heard hide nor hair of his brother or his girlfriend. He was trying his damndest to stay busy and pass the time, but it was getting harder and harder as the days passed. Luckily, he was as busy as he could possibly be on this tour. On the downside, everyone was wondering where Amber was, not that he minded telling them he booted her and caught the woman of his dreams.
Sitting down with his beer, he slipped his hat off and ran his hands over his hair and down his face. "You aight man?" Justin Moore sat down next to him, taking a swig of his own beer. "Yeah, jus ain't heard from Kolby or K.C ina week." He had already filled his shorter best friend in on what happened while he was home. Brantley was pretty surprised when the Arkansas native confessed how much he actually hated Amber. Brantley guessed he shouldn't be surprised, being back on the road, he realized just how much more relaxed and peaceful he was. "Give em some time man. It prolly ain't nuthin." He nodded, taking a swig of his beer and sitting back, putting his hat back on. "I hope so man. I just have a bad feelin I can't shake." "That's jus you worryin' brother. I'm tellin ya, I can't wait to meet this girl though. Anyone who's locked you down this quick must be pretty damn special." Brantley chuckled with a smile, "Known her my whole life, always been in love with her. I was jus too stupid to do anything about it back then. Didn't wanna ruin shit and ended up doin it anyway." "That's usually how it goes brother. Don't worry about it, let her do her job, you do yours, an she'll be back before you know it." Brantley nodded, feeling a bit more at ease. He knew he was probably just letting his brain run wild too much, which usually got him in trouble. At least this tour, he had Thomas and Justin to keep him in check. He was thankful for friends like them, they always looked out for his well being. There had been plenty of nights he had ended up crashing somewhere on one of their tour busses because he didn't want to listen to Amber's bitching anymore.
Suddenly, his phone went off, signaling a text.
His heart skipped a beat when he saw it was from K.C.
Hey, don't hate us! No service to call. You should see what I'm doin to send this text. Lol. Been a little rough but, we're okay, we're good. We both love you. Try to call if we can get service, if not, this is it for a couple more weeks. I love you B, don't give up on me.
He couldn't help but feel a little emotional, but he held it back and showed Justin, who smiled. "Told ya bro." Brantley felt a ton better, but the feeling wasn't gone. Probably just over reacting. He thought to himself as he typed a message back.
I was startin to get worried sweetheart. I'm glad yall are okay and I love yall too. I'll never give up on you, don't worry bout that baby. Give em hell.
He silently prayed like hell they were okay. He knew she wasn't going to say anything that would make him worry even more, he was surprised she had even told him it had been rough. He knew she could handle herself, but he loved her and he wanted her home safe. All he could think about lately was giving her his last name and spending the rest of his life spoiling her and pissing her off. They had been talking about it everytime she called, or joked rather. He was unsure about putting so much on her at once. "Dude, quit over thinkin it an relax. Let's play some corn hole." Justin slapped his hand on the bigger man's shoulder as he stood up. Brantley glanced up, thinking for a moment before standing and finishing off his beer. He wasn't going to get anywhere moping around about it, he knew that. K.C was busting her ass to get back home, he needed to give her something worth coming back to. Not some broken down man drinking himself in the hole because his girlfriend was gone and he was sad.
The singer had time to rekindle friendships Amber had made him stray away from. Since they had gotten back together, she always made a big deal about him spending time with Thomas and Justin. The brunette claimed their wives had an eye on Brantley. Which, made him laugh inside. Thomas and his wife, Lauren had been together since they were 14. Justin and his wife, Jessica had been together since college and had three little girls together, the pair were madly in love with each other. So much, it made Brantley feel sick sometimes. But, now he understood it, he got how happy his friends were because now he had that. A woman worth showing off and bragging about. He didn't mean to sound too cocky, but his girl blew them all out of the water. She could hunt, fish, shoot anything you could think of probably, cook, clean, keep it all in order, knows her way around a gun, bow, and knife. Even then, she could kick your ass with one hand tied behind her back blindfolded. And drop dead gorgeous to boot. He couldn't help but grin stupidly to himself, which made Justin raise his eyebrow at his taller friend. "Nuthin brother. Let's play."
