Kolby's blood drained from his face as he heard the chopper coming back, followed by multiple gun shots. Soon, the pilot came over the radio. "Heavy fire, we can't make it to you. You'll have to get out of town far enough to meet us, possible Captain Gilbert?" He shrugged, "It'll have to be sir, you're our only way out. We can make due. Location on shooters?" "North side of the village, maybe 4 mikes from your given location. Stay alert Marine." "10-4, thank you sir." He sighed as the radio clicked and turned to head into the tent. "We need to leave, now. Are you good to carry her Moa? We can all help if needed. We need to get out of here, now." He felt odd, feeling like the person in control, which he technically was with K.C being out and Jason occupied with her. Mars and Jax hopped up, getting Jason and K.C's things together while Jason just raised his eyebrow. "Troop on the northside of the village, helo took fire, had to fall back. We gotta meet them as far out of the village as we can get. Troops about four mikes out, possibly closer." Jason groaned, but hoisted their leader up bridal style as he stood up. "Edge of the village is about six miles out, you say something and one of us will take her for a bit, aight brother?" Kolby knew he wasn't going to give the redhead up as he nodded his head, shifting her a bit before they all headed out, Kolby in the lead with Jason carrying K.C between Jax and Mars incase they were caught again.
With only a couple of miles left, Kolby had managed to talk Jason into giving him K.C for a bit. One of the first things she tought him was always go with your gut, and right now it said he needed Jason to have a gun. Not only was he the quickest next to K.C, but the samoan needed to let out some anger before he was going to sit on a plane with him for nine hours. His gut proved him right as they were almost caught by surprise, Jason quickly making work of the four men before anyone could fire a bullet and let more know where they were. The large man stayed as close to K.C and Kolby as he could as they finally moved out of the village and headed to find a safe place to meet the helo. Little did they know, they were about to walk into a trap when Mars made them stop, looking at his tablet in shock. "Yo, its a fucking mine field to get to the helo." He looked up, his brown eyes wide and desperate as he looked between his three brothers. Jason and Kolby both sighed. "Can you tell where they are?" Jax questioned, making Mars shake his head. "Nah bro, not until we're within a few feet of them. I can get heat sigs though, enough to know where hopefully not to walk." They all exchanged looks, obviously annoyed this had became harder than intended though. it was them though, shouldn't come as that much of surprise anymore. A mine field was definatly not something they had dealt with before. Mars volunteered himself to go first, being the one with a way to tell, and being able to mark the way. "Dude this shit got too real, too quick. From nothing to a fucking mine field?" Kolby felt stressed, at least most IEDs you could detect before you came up on them, mines were explosive bear traps. Fuck that. Jason shrugged, taking K.C from him, "Probably some world war II shit, bro. Don't think too much into it. There's all sorts of shit like this around Korea from Vietnam." Kolby looked a him like he was insane. "Better to stay calm than walk across second guessing." He sighed, knowing Jason was right. "I'll go next, you an K behind me, then you Jax." They all nodded and followed Mars' path.
They all let out breaths they didn't know they were holding when they made it to the other side, hearing the chopper coming the same time they heard a huge explosion, turning to see soldiers attempting to follow them. "Shit. Jason, you get K.C to the helo, we'll cover!" Kolby yelled as Mars, Jax, and himself fired off rounds quickly. He felt one pierce through his leg, biting back a scream, he kept fighting back. "Go Mars! You next Jax!" He yelled. "No Kolby, fall back bro! There's too many! Make a run for it!" Kolby shook his head, quickly reloading and aiming down his sight. "Do what I said Jax! Go!" He felt another bullet pierce his upper arm, making him scream out this time, knowing Jax was right, but he needed reassurance they would get out okay, which meant taking out as many as possible before trying to leave. Right now was everything K.C had taught him to handle one day. Now was his chance to prove he had it. He started to fall back towards the helo as he reloaded, stumbling backwards as he kept shooting when he felt someone lift him up and run towards their way out. "K.C would bring you back to life and kill you again brother, don't try anymore stupid shit." Jason was panting as he sat him down and buckled him in, the pain from the gun shot wounds starting to rear its ugly head. Mars quickly helped him out of his jacket before ripping the bullet hole in his pants open as well, cleaning the wounds. "Bro, this is pretty bad." He looked up at Kolby, who was staring ahead blankly. Jason tapped Mars' shoulder, "Just clean it up and we'll get it looked at." The younger man nodded, glancing back up at Kolby again before going back to work. They had been out plenty of times, this was Kolby's first time being shot surprisingly, K.C or Jason always managed to save him in the nic of time. Didn't mean he hadn't had other injuries, obviously since that's why him and K.C had been out for awhile.
Jason couldn't help but look down at the redhead, who was surprisingly still passed out. He had been keeping a close eye on her pulse and temperature, doing his best to remember what the lady had told him to look for signs of her going into shock. He couldn't explain the fierce need to protect her this time, he felt honestly terrified to let her out of his sight. Feeling her stir and try to sit up, he held her closer. "Keep restin Reap, we're good." He spoke lightly, the other guys would mean well, but would end up keeping her up with questions and draining her energy. They had plenty of time for all that once they got her looked at better. He looked over to Kolby, adjusting himself to put his hand on the younger mans shoulder. "You did damn good bro. Fuckin damn good. It's always bad before it's good." He nodded to Kolby appreciatively, who nodded in return, leaning his head back on the wall of the chopper with a sigh. "This shit hurts like a mother fucker y'all." He broke a smile, making the other guys chuckle at him, loosening the mood a bit. Might as well, they had a long trip home. And now a long road of him recovering again, as well as K.C this time.
