A few days had passed and K.C was still pretty much knocked out. Jason had stayed true to his word, only leaving the redhead to go to the bathroom. He felt bad not helping out when he was able to, but Becky had assured him he was no trouble. Why would he be for her? A hot, most of the time shirtless, samoan, muscled up, Adonis of a man laid up in her house? She was the last one complaining.
Brantley however, had been a different story. After about the third day, he felt useless and went home. He didn't want to admit it, but he was annoyed and afraid she was going to wake up and forget everything they'd been through before she left. He knew Jason was married, he knew the man and K.C had been tight for years, but it didn't change the green monster that had reared its ugly head. What was the point in him being around if he wasn't the one taking care of his lady? His. She was his. Right now he felt like she was anything but all over again.
"What the fuck is your deal bro?" Kolby burst into the door, the best he could anyway, finding his big brother in the living room in his boxers with a beer and a glare on his face, watching a baseball game he wasn't actually watching. "I ain't needed, what's the point?" "When she does, she's gunna want you there bro. Quit actin like a bitch and step up." Brantley threw his arms up, "What the fuck is there for me to do? Climb in the other side of the bed and snuggle with both of em?" Kolby shrugged, "I have." Brantley scoffed and rolled his eyes, knowing his brother was just trying to make him smile. "I mean shit, you can come help me. You know how long it took to get out the truck and up the steps? You're an asshole for not hearin my struggle." Brantley cracked a small smile, making Kolby slap his shoulder. "Come on, bro. Quit worryin about it so much. Let her heal, get to know Jason. He's the reason she's still alive, don't forget that."
Suddenly, Kolby's phone went off. He answered quickly before smiling up at his brother. "Be there in a minute dude." Brantley was looking at him with his eyebrow raised. "She's awake an wants to know where the fuck you are." The younger Gilbert smirked when Brantley threw his shoes on and high tailed it out the door.
Getting back to their parents house, Brantley hopped out of the truck before Kolby stopped all the way, leaving his brother to his own struggle again. Before he could run inside, he ran into Jason. Brantley was big, but Jason still had size on him. The Samoan pushed him back lightly, making him step back down the stairs. Brantley glared up at him, matched with the same look back. "I don't give a shit how you feel about anything quite honestly, but don't you ever walk out on her again, I'll fuckin kill you." Jason growled lowly, his glare still fixed on the singer. Kolby limped by, unphased by their manly stare down. "Both of y'all are gunna be dead if B don't get his ass up there." Jason moved from Brantley's way and let the singer rush inside. Kolby studied Jason for a moment, he knew the man long enough to know. "You love her, don't you?" Jason cocked his eyebrow, "I'm married, Kolby. Don't put shit where shit don't need to be." Kolby scoffed, "I ain't puttin shit nowhere. It's all over your face brother." Jason sighed, running his hand through his hair. "It ain't like that. I love her like you love her. Simple as that. If we were both single? Hell yeah. We ain't. So, no. I'm sure if you didn't know her like you did, you'd go after her too." The younger Gilbert got quiet with a small smirk, knowing his team mate was right. At the end of the day, they all knew they had a small crush on the woman that would never go any further than that. She was admirable to say the least. "Exactly. Shut up. I'm her rock. Your brother may be in a different way, but I have been for the past two weeks. He should respect that. She woke up worried as shit he'd dropped her and left." Kolby nodded, "B is just a jealous dude. Always has been with her. Plenty of guys wanted to date her, he'd catch wind and send em runnin." Jason scoffed, "But he could do whatever he wanted." Kolby shrugged, "That's what I always told him. She wasn't interested in any of em anyway, always been B for her." Jason sighed, "I thought she was lesbian until you joined up. Just never asked her." They both laughed. "Shit, I did until I seen her droolin over B one day at the river." "Well, you know I'm down as long as he's good to her. Your brother or not, I'll hurt him if he hurts her." Kolby patted the larger mans shoulder, "I'll be waitin behind ya." Jason just chuckled, somehow not surprised Kolby would choose K.C over his own blood.Inside, upstairs, Brantley was sitting next to K.C, holding her hand. He wanted nothing more than to hop in next to her, but he was scared he would hurt her. Everything was at the healing stage where it looked worse than it actually was. It pained him to see her so beat up. "So what do we do now?" His rough voice broke their silence. K.C shrugged, "Work on gettin the hell out of this bed and into the shower. I fuckin stank." Brantley smirked, "I wasn't gon say nuthin." She flipped him the bird and he gently grabbed it and kissed her hand. "I'm glad you're finally back, and awake." "Uh-huh. I already know you've been givin everyone a hard time." He bowed his head, "I may of been a bit hard headed. Wasn't til I didn't hear from y'all for awhile. Then whats his face all up in here when you did get back." K.C rolled her eyes. "You know, when I helped him break out, he was like, Thomas Rhett's size. I stuck by him, fed him, helped him train, get weight on, speak better english. I never left his side. I seen him at his worst, just like you've seen me. I'd do it for any one of them in a heartbeat. Jason isn't goin anywhere, no matter if I stay in, or get out. He will still be a big part of my life. You can get used to it, or let me know otherwise. You two are my rocks, B. I don't want a life without the both of you in it." Brantley took her words in as he studied her face. "I guess I owe em for gettin you an Ko back to me. Can't believe he did what he did either. I'm like, so fuckin proud of him. He handled shit while you were gone." He caught her proud smile, "Well, he learned from the best. Now, can you shutup and get your ass in this bed and hold me?" Brantley gave her a smile of his own and slipped in beside her, wrapping her into him the best he could. "I missed you so fuckin much baby." He nuzzled into her hair, finally feeling complete for the first time since the moment she left. He felt her hand over his, "I missed you, too."
