"Y..you...what...J...Jem?!" I choked out. I crawled back away from the boy I once considered my friend. Jem looked at the corpse then me and sighed.
"I was hoping...that you would get home later, but I see that those odds weren't in my favor. Look, I know I seem like the bad guy, but she was in the way." He took a step towards me, over Bellona's wet corpse, and towards me again. Just looking at it made me want to puke-to cry. I inched away from him with each step he took. It wasn't long before my back was grazing the leaves of a bush. "Stop moving away, please. I just want to talk."
He clearly wanted to do more than just talk. My eyes moved over his figure over and over again. I didn't see anything he could have killed her with. Maybe he threw it away. God, did he plan this murder that far? Why?! Why just a little girl.
"N-no," I sobbed. I placed my arms over my face as if to defend myself in some way. It obviously was ineffective. However, what was I supposed to do? I couldn't think. I couldn't breathe. I couldn't process anything through my head. Everything was swirling out of control. The corners of my vision were blurred, and even Jem was barely a figure I could see through the rain.
Yet, I could still see him-him and Bellona.
"Please...listen. This is all a misunderstanding." The boy gave an insecure smile as he held his arms out. He was getting closer.
"S...stop!"
"You don't understand."
"Y-you're l...ying!"
"Please lis-"
"Go away! Go away! Go away-"
"I said 'shut up!' " He suddenly bursted. He yelled at the top of his lungs with frustration and wrath in his voice. His tone echoed throughout the garden soon to be covered up by merely the sound of pouring rain. We looked at each other in both shock at what he had done, eyes wide. "I-I mean..." He stuttered, trying to cool himself down. He cleared his throat and moved his hair away from his face. "Just...listen..."
Never have I heard Jem scream before. Never have I seen him do anything but smile, joke, and laugh. This was not the boy I met at the paint store in the mall. This was not the boy that helped me paint my room and played with Bellona. He...he was entirely new. And this new Jem was someone I have never met before.
By now, he was just a foot away from me. I twitched as he crouched down to my eye level. I could feel more tears pour down my eyes as he touched my cheek softly. "I don't want to hurt you..." He whispered through the sound of rain. "Bellona...well, she was just someone that shouldn't be with such a lively girl as yourself. I don't want to see with her. The same goes with those brothers you're living with. Look, come with me. I can help you. Those people you consider friends...they're dangerous. Bellona, the brothers, even...even Shiro...They all are tricking you."
"Wh...what a-are you...saying?" I stuttered. I could feel myself tremble in fear. He spoke to me as if I were a scared child, as if I was a child who was lost in a mall without her parents.
"I'm saying they don't deserve someone as kind as you are. Those brothers are just villain. They're bad. God knows what they've done before you came. So come on...Just stay silent and come with me. You won't ever needs those bad, bad men ever again."
"Why don't you try saying that shit to my face, asshole." A stray, yet familiar voice came from behind him. I looked up to see a blurry figure with red hair. Focusing more on the image, I could tell that it was male...it was standing...it was angry...it was...
"Aya...to..." I muttered.
"Get away from her before I punch your face in," the male warned. Jem looked at him with a small frown. He sighed before standing up.
