Grayson POV

It was just another day. We planned where we are going. The hatchery was our destination at this point. I wonder what it's going to look like! Maybe an Ender dragon? Or something else. I imagined all the different types of dragons possible. The thought of hatching the egg made me giddy and excited. The books Mia found did give some insight on how it hatches. My mind wandered on the different outcomes when we got there the baby could be hostile or friendly, no telling which one. It could be small or big. The egg is daily heavy and large so it can't be super tiny.

"What are we supposed to be looking for?" Mia's voice snapped me out of my day dreaming.

"Not sure but I think we'll find it!" I exclaimed, determined to find it.

-----------------

So much walking. Waking was all we ever did. Most fit he trips were silent. Occasionally someone would start a conversation or we would start messing around with each other, or try to. I was too focused to think about anything else. We still had three major goals that may have been turned down to two. News of a rebellion in the empire has spread across the badlands. A overthrow threatening to happen but the emperor refuses to give up. 'Stop getting off track' I mentally slapped myself to keep me focused.

Staring down at the map I constructed a makeshift route and plan. Getting the dragon could help with the fall of the empire and then maybe fixing Drake. That was our first priority but the chance of the dragon egg is now available and we know what to do. Mia had book thinking it could provide answers for fixing him but that is a whole other confusing problem.

"How long will this take to get there?" Armen asked.

"A few days I hope." I replied, turning my attention to him.

"Why must everything be so far away!"

"Oh my god please don't start complaining! Both you and Mia are bad about complaining. Me and Drake don't complain." I felt like i was watching two 6 year old kids. At least  Drake never complained.

--------------------

We made are way through the badlands to the edge where the map led us. We approached a series of obsidian aches yhat towered a good 50 feet into the air. I ran my hand along one of them feeling the engravings and patterns carved into the rock. At the end of the arches was a entrance to a tunnel leading underground. Great! Underground is totally safe. Nothing like a ton of rocks crashing down on your head. Fun. I backed away from the tunnel.

"Is that where we are going? There is nothing else around here." Mia asked pointing to the tunnel.

"Yea I guess. I don't really like the idea of it but it's the only way to go." I looked back at the tunnel. I lit a torch and started for the tunnel. It was made out of a smooth white stone that looked like quartz. A light came from the end but it wasn't sun light. It had a blueish purple glow. The gall opened up into a larger room with a bridge going over water with a platform in the middle. On the platform stood a small pillar with a word gem on it along with a spot that looks like the egg would fit into it. I took the egg out of my bag and the purple gem started glowing. I looked at the egg when I noticed all the little purple specs on the egg also glowed softly. I felt a smile being etched onto my face. After all this we finally are going to do it. I looked up and started towards the bridge. I looked to my right and saw Drake looking at area in front of my oddly.
"Grayson wait don't-" he started to say until I was suddenly shot backwards by something. "-there is a force field there...." He trailed off. I landed in my  butt with egg still in hand. In front of me a force field showed where I walked into it. It was blue and staggered before it went back to being invisible. "What the?" I got up confused Mia walked next to me along with Drake. She poked at it and the blue field appeared again as it shocked her hand.
"Ow!" She backed up. "What do we do now?"
