Sage and Bodhi were sitting there, looking at each other like the galaxy revolved around just the two of them. Bodhi was the first to look away, his nerves completely overcoming him like always. It only made Sage smile, the accomplishment he had just made caused Sage to feel proud of his development as a person.
There was a full on war going on outside the ship and they had only been looking at each other for a second but it felt like a lifetime. There was nothing that could've interrupted it, except for the rat-sized piece of beeping metal that flew passed Sage's head and into the back of the ship.
It took them both a second to realize it, Bodhi just stood there ready to die as the beeping got faster but Sage had reacted quickly, raising her arm and using the Force to throw the piece of metal outside. It had barely made it out the back door of the ship before it blew up, causing the whole ship to shake, Bodhi and Sage both fell to the floor. Bodhi, though, had fallen against a sharp corner of a metal box, creating a large gash in his side.
Bodhi let out a scream of pain as he reached for his side, blood beginning to soak into his shirt. Both of them were laying on opposite ends of the ship, unable to reach each other in the positions they were in.
Sage's eyes widened when she saw the gash, "Bodhi," she began, realizing that all the blaster-fire outside the ship had stopped completely, Bodhi attempted to move towards her, "don't move." Sage put her hand out in a gesture for him to stop.
"Don't move," Sage repeated as silence fell over them and Sage used the Force to feel the movement ouside, it felt as though someone was watching them closely. She then realized the rebels on the outside of the ship were all dead, "They have snipers covering us, do not move."
Bodhi only nodded as he continued to hold his side, sucking in his breath as he attempted not to cry out in pain. They both laid there completely helpless, Bodhi losing a lot of blood as the seconds went by. Sage began thinking as quickly as she could, looking around for something to use. Sage began to slowly creep forward, jumping back when a laser barely missed her by a hair.
Bodhi shook his head quickly, "No, no, Sage. Please, don't," he said through breaths.
"Don't what?!" Sage semi-shouted, "I can't just sit here and watch you die," she looked at him helplessly as he winced at the pain.
Bodhi had a peaceful second, his breath being held, "Neither can I."
Sage couldn't help the tears that rolled down her face causing all of Bodhi to want to reach forward and wipe them away. Sage somehow found the humor in the moment, "Yeah but at least you'll die right afterwards."
Bodhi couldn't help but laugh for a moment, tears beginning to roll down his face, "Sage.."
Sage shook her head, wiping the tears off her face as quickly as possible, "No, Bodhi- don't do that."
Bodhi looked at her with sad eyes, "I'm dying," he coughed, twisting his body and lowering his head to the floor for a moment before looking back at her, "I can't die without telling you-"
Sage shook her head again, "No! Don't do that, Bodhi. You're going to be fine," she shouted at him.
Bodhi's mouth curved into a frown, he wanted nothing more than to comfort her and hug her in that moment, "but if I do die.. I have to tell you-"
Sage pointed a finger at him, "No, you can't- you can't tell me. You can tell me what you want to when we are fine and dandy back on Yavin," Sage said, causing Bodhi to be at a loss for words.
"I-," he began.
"Promise me, Bodhi, you'll hold on, for me. You'll live, for me," Sage said quickly, her eyes darting from his face to his bloody side.
