Droids

So I just wanted to point out that this will be the last book of the Age of Jedi series and there's only a few chapters left. Before you freak out, I do have plans to make a series after that called: the Age of Rebellion. Which, would follow completely different characters, hence why I've been sort of switching the POV to Sage's. But, I'm only going to do that if people are going to want to keep reading the 2-3 other books in that series.

Sage had been walking towards the control room, the base was on urgent alert. Something had happened and an emergency council meeting was called. It was only the next day after the Battle of Scarif and everyone was on high alert because they still didn't have the plans at the base. 

They were passed off to Princess Leia over Scarif and she had gone into hyperspace, Darth Vader's ship directly behind. And it's been a day and they still don't have the plans so Sage figured something was up.

Jade was already in the control room surrounding the table. They were waiting for Cassian specifically, but Sage seemed to arrive before him. Which makes sense since he's injured. He was in a wheelchair and got rolled in, sitting next to the table. The meeting began, Mon Mothma was the first to speak: "Princess Leia has been captured according to our infiltration."

The room went into conversations and whispers. Jyn walked in and stood next to Sage and Jade, leaning over to Sage, "Who's Princess Leia?"

Sage chuckled slightly, leaning back to her, "Bail Organa's daughter, she's the one who you gave the plans to."

Jyn's mouth parted slightly, the thought of everything they lost and did being for nothing if the Empire got the plans back. Mon Mothma settled the room down, "But, the spy also sent word of the Empire looking around on Tatooine for an R2 unit, a D2."

Jade's jaw sort of dropped at this, "R2-D2 and C3-PO," she said out loud. One eyes were on her she spoke once more, "Senator Organa's droids."

Mon Mothma only nodded, her eyes watching Jade closely, suspicious to how she knows the droids. Senator Vaspar spoke, fear in his voice, "Why would she put the plans in an R2 unit?! Is she stupid?!"

"Hey!" Jade snapped, crossing her arms causing everyone to turn towards her, "it was smart of her, she acted quickly and intelligently." Jade paused, looking over to Sage, "I, alone, will go to Tatooine, I have a friend there, I'll send word to him for him to keep an eye out for the droids."

The council stopped and Mon Mothma smiled slightly, looking down at the table with utmost pride. "It's settled then,"

"What should we do about the Princess?!" A person in the back of the room yelled to the front.

Sage was still looking at her mother with a disgusted look on her face. Alone? Really? She thought.

"Right now, she's not a priority, get the plans, that's first," Cassian said out loud, some of the senators looking at him in shock that he would even mention that.

"Cassian is right, we can't be focusing on the princess," Jade agreed as she looked around the room.

Mon Mothma's small smile faded as there were a few nods in agreement and then the council was declared over. The room started dispersing and Jade was one of the first to leave, Sage following hot on her trail.

"Alone?!" Sage said from behind her, Jade kept walking, "Why alone?!"

Once they were in the main hangar Jade whipped her head around, stopping Sage in her tracks. "Because it's not safe-"

"You know something," Sage said all of the sudden.

Jade couldn't directly lie to her daughter, "Your father has already found the droids, he messages me this morning that they're on the way to the Death Star," she said causing Sage to look absolutely shocked.

"What? Why would they go to the death star?" Sage had a look of confusion.

"They don't know the plans are in the R2 unit, all he knows is that it came with a message from Princess Leia saying she needs rescuing," Jade began, "Leia wasn't supposed to even have the plans, her father wanted her to go get Obi-wan off of Tatooine."

Sage's face twisted into a sad expression but she suddenly came to an understanding of why Jade wanted to go alone. She pulled her mom into a hug causing Jade to quickly wrap her arms around her daughter, "Be safe, mom."

Jade smiled, about to say "I'll try" when she remembered Master Yoda's words: "Do or do not, there is no try," and she ended up telling Sage: "I will be."

Sage took this as a promise, a promise that she would come back. "Be brave," Jade added, whispering into her ear. 

Sage only smiled, "I don't say it enough, but I love you, mom."

Jade almost broke down into tears as she hugged her daughter tightly, "I love you too, Sage."

Jade hated the thought of leaving her daughter, but she trusted the people in the Alliance well enough to do it. They pulled away and Jade looked at her daughter one more time, she was almost a spitting image of Jade when she was younger, personality and look-wise. But Jade was beginning to grow old and the resemblance was losing it's effect.

Jade let go of Sage's shoulders and smiled kindly at her once more before picking up her bag that had been dropped off by a worker while they were hugging, not wanting to disturb them. Jade began to walk away and all Sage could do was stand there, watching her as she went to her ship that was being prepared by Bodhi and another mechanic.

Bodhi decided he wanted to know more about mechanics since he was already a fine pilot. She he had started training early that day with one of the Alliance's mechanics. Sage grew curious as Jade turned and began talking to Bodhi.

Jade put her hand on Bodhi's shoulder, looking back at Sage and then back to the man in front of her. "Take care of her, please."

Bodhi only nodded causing Jade to sigh and begin walking into her ship, "Wait-" he stopped her. "You- You'll be back, right?"

Jade smiled and nodded, though she was completely unsure of the answer. Bodhi took it as a yes and smiled back at her before she made her way into the U-wing and took off. Bodhi turned back to see Sage no longer standing where she was.
