Chapter 1: In the blink of an eye...

Mara

"Randy,slow down!" I exclaimed as Randy rounds the corner abruptly. I suspect he's had too much to drink but being the spoiling girlfriend I am,I let it go. He hiccups and lets out a thunderous laugh. He steps on the breaks and the car squeals to a halt. I jerk forward in my seat from the force and get jerked back just as fast.

"Goddamn it,Randy!" I shrieked from shock. He's never this careless but because of us getting voted as Most likely to still be together he allowed himself a few celebration drinks. Okay,maybe more than a few. I realize that we're right in the middle of the road.

"I think we should park to the side more,Randy." I suggested to him while he continues to smile goofily at me. He unbuckles his seatbelt and leans towards me.

"Oh,come on babe!No one's driving at this time of night.We'll be fine." he tells me but I'm not entirely sure he makes sense.

"We're in the middle of the road,Rand." I mentioned and he flashes his heartachingly adorable grin and I melt.

Even though he does look a little disheveled but God,he still looks super handsome. His short cropped curly blond hair and intense grey eyes are enough to make my anger fade away.

"What? Why are you looking at me like that?"

"I love you,Mara." he tells me suddenly all serious. My face softens and my eyes fill with tears. I hate it when he does this. He does something stupid and fixes it all later in a snap of his fingers by saying stuff like this. I struggle not to give in but his very intimate gaze goes right through me. And as easy as that I lose.

"Oh,Randy. What am going to do with you?" I groaned defeatedly and a smile tugs on the corners of his red lips. He leans in and kisses my forehead and I close my eyes, savouring his beer and Hugo Boss scent. He pulls away and looks at me.

"Here's what you're going to do with me. You're going to take me with you to college and then marry me." he announced sounding sure and my eyes widen. We've always talked about going to college together but never about marriage.

"Randy,you're drunk." I told him but he shakes his head stubbornly.

"I might be drunk a little bit but I'm serious,babe. I want to spend my life with you and our eight kids." he says sincerely and I gasp quite audibly.

"Eight kids? Randy! That's too much and besides we haven't even you know...kissed." I muttered shyly and this earns me a smile.

"I know. You want your first time to be special. But this is a special night. I want to be with you forever. We won't get married right away but at least you know that it'll always be you. I love you so much,babe." he assured me and I believe every word. I take in a deep breath to calm the swarm of butterflies in my stomach. Oh,God. What this boy does to me. And I'm only 18. This is it,I know it. This is the right time.

"And I love you,Randy." I tell him and cup his face delicately in my hands. He leans close to me and caresses my face in sweet slow gestures. My toes curl in anticipation. Our lips are just a few centimetres away from locking when bright headlights surprises us and we whip our heads in time for us to see the truck headed directly at us. I'm too stunned to move but I remain clutching Randy's hand and the last thing I hear is a loud crash and then nothing.
