Chapter 17: PROM-inent desires
Mara
This is it. Prom night. The rite of passage for every teenager. And I was nervous out of my mind. But no. I can't get too nervous because I'll sweat and ruin my Vera Wang. Oh, yeah. I said Vera Wang. The Vera Wang. Max got it for me from New York. She was a friend of Vera's and so the very talented Miss Wang designed my Prom dress for me. Do I have the very best sister in the whole wide world or what?!
My dress was a white chiffon flared cocktail dress with a sweetheart bodice. It was snow white chiffon and had crystal embroidered into the bodice. I paired it with white satin, diamond encrusted Louboutin stilettos. I'm wearing my hair down in amplified waves over my left shoulder. Diamond teardrop earrings hung from my ears and a whitegold diamond encrusted bangle adorned my left wrist. My make-up was neutral but gave me a rosy glow which was done by my talented bestfriend.
"Voila! I have made you into an enchantress. Kyle won't be able to take his eyes off you tonight." Bree bragged as she tugged her flaming red body-hugging dress. I rolled my eyes at her revelation. I strode over to my closet mirror and inspected myself. I did look hot tonight. But so did Bree.
"Or maybe Felix is the one who wont be able to take his eyes off you tonight." I countered and she shrugged agreeingly. I let out a soft chuckle and turned to face her. It was then that I understood what she was implying. Was she trying to say that Kyle was...well, had feelings for me?
"Bree..." I uttered and she gave me an exasperated look and walked over to me to make sure that not a strand of hair was out of place. All the while she did this I couldn't help but smile at her annoyed expression.
"You can keep on denying it but it'll come out soon." she murmured softly to me or was it more to herself? My brows furrowed in thought. Why couldn't I help but be affected by her words?
"What---" I started to protest but we were interuppted by an annoying knock. I could only assume who it was.
"Hey, ladies! Hurry up! Your dates are here!" Trav called from the other side of the door. Bree squealed in either delight or nervousness. She fixed the imaginary wrinkles on my dress and handed me my white satin clutch which contained my phone, some money, a handkerchief and of course my lip gloss.
