Chapter 8
Sara's POV
"Hamza bhai, how come you are up so early in the morning?"I asked trying to hide my embarrasement. Hamza bhai understood it and dismissed the question he was about to ask.
"Yeah, I heard noises, so I came to find the source of it”, he explained.
"Oh, um, it was Rehan, he got scared while watching this movie", Danial replied.
"But why are you guys up? And when did Rehan came back?”, Hamza bhai questioned.
"Rehan came back like about half an hour ago, Sara could not sleep and so we decided to watch a movie", Danial replied yawning widely.
"I am going to my room now, bhai tell aunty (aunt) that I’ll go to bed right after saying my morning prayers so I won't be having breakfast", I said goodnight to them and went upstairs. I checked the time; I had 45 minutes ahead of me. So I decided to check out my Facebook profile. As soon as I logged in, I noticed that I had 7 new messages. I clicked on one and saw that I had a message from my friend Anya, it was just a 'hi', so I replied by typing 'hey'. Then I checked the other 6 messages, they were from Derek, the guy who had sent me a friend request which I had accepted. I wondered what he would have to say to me. Nonetheless I clicked to see the messages.
The first one was a simple 'Hi', the next one said 'Thanks for accepting my friend request', the next one said 'Are you there?', and so were the next two, however the last one said, 'Would like to meet you. How about meeting over a cup of coffee?’ My eyes widened at this one. God! Guys are so....so....unbelievable!
I instantly deleted him from my friend's list and blocked him.
After going through my profile page for another 15 minutes, I logged out and after shutting down the laptop, I waited for the Adhaan (call for prayer). My eyes were dropping shut but I forced them to remain open. After what seemed like forever it was time, I made my Wudu (washing parts of the body using water, typically in preparation for formal prayers).I said my prayers and hopped into my bed, turned off the lights and fell asleep within no time.
"Wake up sleepy head", somebody yelled in my ears, it was most probably my sister.
"Go away Aapi (Indian-Muslim version for referring to sister), let me sleep", I said shoving her hands off of me.
"Silly, it's me Ally", Ally shouted in my ears. I shot up straight in my bed, looking around. Finally my eyes landed on Ally, she was beaming at me, happily. Seriously! When is she not happy, I am not jealous or anything but dude!
"What happened Ally?", I asked rubbing my eyes.
"Just one day to go."
"Yipeee", I said with fake enthusiasm.
"Come on Sara, why are you not excited about your engagement?", she asked pouting.
"What is there to be excited about? I mean who in today's world get's engaged at the age of 15?", I almost yelled. I don't know why but my blood was boiling, I didn't wanted to get engaged so soon and yet here I was and there's nothing I could do about it.
"Sar…"
"Don't even go there", I took a deep breath running a hand through my loose hair and sighed.
"I am fine, am fine", I repeated to myself.
"Anyways, why are you here so early in the morning?” I asked coming out of my trance.
"I thought since you are going to be a bride, so why not make some henna designs on your hands, that will give you the perfect Indian bride look", she suggested. As soon as she said that she grabbed me by my hand and pushed me towards my bathroom. I quietly went to take a bath. After 20 minutes under the cold water, I felt little bit better and very much sleepy. I don't know why but after taking a shower I feel sleepier than I did before.
