Chapter 20

Danial’s POV

I was lying on my bed, watching the ceiling above, thinking about my day so far. I couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her. I mean she was acting weird for some strange unknown reason but I failed to understand why.

Thinking that I should just go and ask her instead of wondering about it, I got up from my bed, slipped on my shoes and went downstairs towards the guest room she was staying in. Just when I was about to knock I heard voices coming from inside and though I did not come here with the intentions of eavesdropping but I was tempted to, so instead of walking away I listened.

Even after pressing my ear against the door, all I could hear were disgruntled sounds, so carefully I opened the door just a bit to listen.

“I seriously can’t believe you did it”, I recognized that as Ashar’s voice and from the sounds of he sounded amused.

“Neither can I. I mean when Danial gave you that murderous look, for a second I thought you would chicken out or something but the way you handled everything, it was awesome”, it sounded like Aditya’s voice which made me wonder how he was here.

Great! My best friend is here and he never even bothered to inform me of his arrival, but I was still confused as to what they were talking about. And what was Adi doing here? And when had he arrived? And when had he seen me glaring at her?

But before I could worry myself anymore, someone spoke up, I realized that it was my brother’s voice, “I am proud of you little sis, never thought you could do a dare like that, it must have been difficult for you”.

“It was, I mean I call him by his nick name because I am actually very much scared of him, but I don’t chicken out just because I am afraid of something or rather someone. Besides if you look at it now, I killed three birds with just one stone”, Sara said in a happy voice.

“Three birds? I thought it was two?”, Ashar asked in what I thought was a confused tone.

“No, I did my dare, took revenge from him, annoyed the hell out of him thereby lessening some of my fear but I must say it was fun, he gets riled up way too quickly and easily”, Sara answered.

Riled up? Seriously who wouldn’t get riled up if you make fun of them and embarrass them right in front of their whole family? I know I would and that’s what I did.

“But why are you so afraid of him?”, Rehan asked in a thoughtful voice.

“I don’t know but there is something about him that scares me”, Sara replied in a dismissing tone. By now I had had enough so without thinking, I opened the door with a loud bang and went in with a scowl on my face.

“So, you did all of this just because you wanted to annoy me?”, I asked in a calm tone and that’s when they all looked at me. Aditya was video calling so he immediately went offline, the rest three looked surprised, Sara looked more like she was scared but before I could go on with my questioning session, Rehan spoke up while getting up from the chair he was settled in, “Danial, what are you doing here?”, Others followed suit, they too slowly and carefully got up from the bed which they were settled on.

“Now now the right question isn’t that Rehan, is it?”, I asked walking further in the room, at a slow pace, like a lion taking slow step towards his target.

“Uh, Danial look”, Ashar began but then yelled “RUN!”, and all three of them broke into a sprint at once, I of course ran after them but they all went in different directions, so I chose my weakest target, Sara. It was a wrong move since it turned out that she could run really fast, so I ended up chasing after her all around the place but not catching up with her even once.
