"I think we need to tell our parents." B-Joo said to Hansol. It was 1 a.m, time for another one of their late night chats. "It's been, what, a month now?"
Hansol sighed and rolled over, facing the young one. He was shirtless, his abs fully exposed.
"I guess, but I don't think they'll take it well." He said, twiddling his thumbs.
"Why don't you ever talk about your parents, Hansol?" B-Joo asked, curling a strand of Hansol's faded blue hair around his finger.
"They're not exactly the nicest people, you know... my uncle came out when I was, I don't know, five? They haven't talked to him since." His voice cracked a bit.
Noticing his boyfriend's worry, B-Joo snuggled up to him and rested his head on Hansol's shoulder. Hansol kissed his forehead lightly and smiled. He found it nice how much B-Joo cared for him, and how much he cared for B-Joo.
"Do they... ever... touch you?" B-Joo asked, a sudden serious tone to his voice.
"Abuse? My dad would sometimes, when I was still living there. But that was when I was little. And I wouldn't really call it abuse, it was more like... discipline." Hansol whispered.
"Discipline? When was the last time?" B-Joo asked, sitting up and looking Hansol in the eyes.
"Like, when I was ten? I'm seventeen now, Joo. Don't worry about it." Hansol placed a soft kiss on his hand, and made him lay back down.
"Well... if you say so. But, will you tell them? For me?"
"I guess... but only if you tell your parents first." Hansol whispered apprehensively.
"I already did." Hansol gasped.
"What?"
"On Christmas... they called me, and they were talking, and they mentioned our comeback show. They were saying how they were happy for me and you. And I asked them, how they knew I was gay. They said it was one of the most obvious things ever." He chuckled.
"That's funny." Hansol said, drifting off to sleep. "How bout we go tell them tomorrow?"
"We?"
"I'm not going if you don't go with me." Hansol said.
"You're stubborn, Hannie. But I'd be honored to meet my boyfriend's parents."
The next morning, at 8 o clock, Hansol called his parents and they gladly agreed to meet up at their house.
"Look nice." Hansol reminded B-Joo. "First impressions are everything." He nodded.
He decided to wear a blue suit that complimented his purple hair, winged eyeliner, and light eyeshadow. Hansol wore a sweatshirt and skinny jeans, along with makeup.
They left the house, and after an hour long drive filled with nervous chatter and comforting from B-Joo, they arrived at Hansol's parents house. It was a shade of pale grey, with a cobble path that led to the front steps.
"Their house is really nice." B-Joo said, slamming the car door and holding open Hansol's.
"Thanks." They walked inside and were greeted with Hansol's mother, father, and little sister. His sister was fifteen.
His dad had curly black hair, mixed with shades of grey, dark brown eyes, and laugh lines. His mother had deep black hair, light eyes, and dimples. His sister had dyed brown hair, blue contacts, and a small nose.
"Hansol, I missed you!" His sister said, rushing up to him and giving him a long hug.
"I missed you too, Ja-Kyung." He said, patting her head softly. He then hugged his dad, and his mom.
"We didn't know you'd be bringing a friend, Hansol. What's your name?"
"My name is Kim Byungjoo, but everyone calls me B-Joo. Nice to meet you, sir." He said, reaching his hand out for the man to shake.
"So-Yi," the old man said, turning towards Hansol's mom. "Would you and Ja-Kyung go get some tea?" The woman nodded and led her daughter into the kitchen.
"So what did you want to tell us, Hansol-Kim?" His father asked, leaning forward in his chair.
"Well..." Hansol began. "It's really important." He looked down at his feet, unable to make eye contact with his father.
"Come on, son. Tell us." Just as Hansol was about to tell his father, his mother came in.
"Hansol-Kim, can I talk to you for a moment?" Hansol nodded, relieved to be excused from the conversation with his intimidating father, and walked into the kitchen. B-Joo followed, listening quietly at the door.
"Hansol, I saw the video." His mom said, a cold tone in her voice.
Uh oh. B-Joo thought.
"Video?" Hansol choked.
"Yes son, the video of you... and that boy. He asked you to be his boyfriend. And you said yes." Hansol bit his lip to hold back tears.
"How could you?" She asked, as B-Joo heard a slap across Hansol's face. Hansol began to cry, softly. His mom raised her fist once more, but began to shed tears as well.
"You just, haven't met the right girl yet." She said coldly. "It's just a phase." She turned around and faced the wall. "But until you get over this phase, you will not be welcome to this house. And you will not be part of the family."
B-Joo's heart sunk. He had gotten his boyfriend into this, and he was going to get him out of it. He walked into the kitchen, to see a crying Hansol. He grabbed his hand and squeezed it tightly.
His father walked into the kitchen. "What's all the commotion about?" He asked, startled by his son's crying.
Hansol's mom whispered something quietly to his dad. The dad's face suddenly drained of color, and filled with anger. He glanced to B-Joo, then Hansol, then back to B-Joo.
And then, without warning, he hit B-Joo square in the nose.
He collapsed onto the floor, Hansol letting out a small scream. B-Joo's head began spinning, and the room seemed like it was swirling around him. Warm blood started to pour from his nostrils onto the hardwood of the kitchen floor, which had cut his lip.
Hansol's father grabbed Hansol by the throat.
"WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS... TO OUR FAMILY? HUH? YOU'RE SUCH A PIG!" His father continued yelling insults. And as much as B-Joo was in pain, he couldn't handle seeing his boyfriend that upset.
Unnoticed by Hansol's father, B-Joo struggled to lift himself up, and then punched Hansol's father in the jaw. His father fell to the ground, screaming in agony. B-Joo began to sob loudly, and continued to punch and kick Hansol's father until Hansol pulled him off.
"Stop! B-Joo, stop!" He grabbed B-Joo by the face and kissed his soft, bleeding lips.
"It's over." He whispered.
"It's over now."
