My skin coats with sweat as the plane is about to take off, my eye lids shutting close, my heart racing quickly against my chest.
"Is everything alright?" Zayn asks, making me semi turn to his direction.
"Yes," I lie. "Why shouldn't everything be alright?"
"You just look. . . bothered." He looks at me intently, holding a strong gaze over me, his hazel eyes penetrating through my weak senses.
I was seconds away from telling him how bothered I was by everything. I was bothered about the growing feelings I had for him, I was bothered about the idea of me sitting too close to him, I was bothered about him actually noticing the changes in my behavior. "No, I am fine," I assure him, faking a smile and going back to shutting my eyes and holding on to the seat, the strap over my stomach settling too tight.
The plane begins to move, and everything intensifies. The blood pumps hard through my veins, I could literally feel my Aorta nearly explode.
I feel a palm cup mine, making me instantly look at my hand. I dart my eyes upwards to the brunette who held a supporting smile that could light up this whole city. "I am here."
I tighten around his hold and continue to shut my eyes.
"Just open your eyes, Nora," I obey his soothing voice. "Look at me." surrounding
When I do look at him, I do see the most beautiful shade of brown, flakes of hazel surrounding his eyes. I begin to sink into his warmth, almost forgetting the fact that I was soon to be airborne.
"Now take in a deep breathe," I suck in a bunch of air, "Hold it in." I hold in the vast amount of oxygen in me, only to let go after several seconds. "Repeat." I do it a few more times, feeling a little bit better.
"How do you feel?"
"Better."
"You're so beautiful."
"What?" I gulp.
"Uh, do you want some water?" His cheeks become colorful as he gets to his feet, his tattoo sleeve coming to view. Damn.
He looks back down at me, taking me at surprise by smiling, only to be warned by the stewardess.
"She'll like some wine," he refers to me and he is then being talked back on by the woman with a blonde bun, saying that she'd bring the wine as soon as we're safe up. He rolls his eyes and takes his seat again, buckling up and clearing his throat, before putting his hand back on the middle piece between us.
Since when did the blank television screen in front of me become so interesting?
"Can I hold your hand?"
"What?" I ask.
"I asked if you had a favourite band?"
"Oh." I embarrassingly say. "No. I am very plain when it comes to music. Anything new and calm suits me."
"Nice. Wanna hear this song?" He pulls out ear buds from his pockets, switching on his iPod and giving me one of the ear pieces.
"Sure," I take and place one into my ear. A slow piano song comes on, playing rhythmically with another instrument, the violin.
"Who sings this?"
"Just listen," he hushes me by laughing, leaning his head into my direction.
"OK," I roll my eyes and like magnets, we come closer and closer to one another, our heads almost touching. I don't make out the words from the low music gushing out through the ear bud, but that was totally fine because Zayn mouthed throughout the piece of the song.
"How was it?"
"Amazing,"-Lie-"Amazing song."
"Because this is the acoustic of it," he offhandedly says. "The original is more of a fast song."
"Really?" I pretend to be interested. "Can you put another song?" Can you mouth to another song?
"Sure," he replies. He puts on another song and what feels like forever, I slowly set my head on his shoulder, feeling the stiff muscle beneath me. My eyes begin to lazily flutter, sleep taking over me. I begin to hear him say something about the wine, or music, but whatever he said sounded nice, almost like melting chocolate to the lips.
"Tell me one thing, Nora, one thing."
"Yeah?" I hum, feeling myself almost get into another world where maybe, I didn't feel torn apart.
"Are you happy with Liam?"
"I don't--" I sink deeper into his skin, now imagining myself on his chest.
"Because I can treat you better." I think he says, before my eye lids fully close.
