I pulled the door open and saw Cadenza standing awkwardly in front of my parents. I pulled her into a hug. "Hi!"

We separated and she went off talking to her family and I quickly hugged my parents, smiling. "Mom, dad."

"You seem happier than usual... what happened?" Dad asked.

"...oh boy, you'd never guess. Lilac!"

"Why are you calling to a- OH MY IRENE!" They yelled. I smiled a little as she held my hand.

"Grandma! Grandpa!" She smiled.

"Oh... Lilac! I hardly recognized you! You're growing like a weed!" Mom laughed. I rolled my eyes and lead then into the living room where everyone else was waiting.

"Uh... before we start... Zane do you mind?"

"Right." He nodded he walked over to Lilac. "Let's go upstairs!" He smiled through his mask.

"Okay! Uncle Zane!" She smiled and they ran upstairs.

"Will someone please explain what's going on!?" Hayden growled. I took a deep breath.

"Mom, dad."

"Oh... alright." Mom nodded. "Your son married into a mess of a family... you see when (Y/N) was born she was "gifted" be a warlocks wife with powers-"

"So she did that to my grandchild!?" Hayden yelled. Laurance grabbed my hand, sitting behind me, hugging me as I stared at the floor in regret.

"No. I didn't." I grumbled.

"...Garte here took it to an unkind manner. He didn't know that she had a son and through rage, blindly killed her."

Lies.

"It was one of the greatest regrets of my life."

More lies.

"We tried to extract the powers from her, but her instincts were to fight back. So she's been cursed with these powers."

"It seems like something is missing." Hayden mumbled. I stood up.

"It's because you forgot the part where the warlock is constantly trying to get his revenge for what he did on me and my daughter!" I sneered, pointing at my dad. I felt my face warm up angrily. "He did that to my daughter. He's the reason I'm going to..." I trailed off and left the room angrily.

I stormed upstairs into my room, slamming my door shut, locking it. I felt tears run down my face.

I try so hard to control what comes from my mouth, but nothing seems to come out the way I want it to. I'm in a constant battle between head versus heart, and it keeps getting harder to tell them apart!

I laid on my stomach and held my hand out, letting midnight blue sparks fly from my palm. My mind was consuming my being. I heard a knock on the door. "What!?"

"It's me." I unlocked the door with the flick of a finger and Laurance walked in, closing and locking the door behind himself. He walked over to the bed and laid down next to me. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah. I just realized how it's so hard not to constantly be angry at my dad." I grumbled. "He's selfish."

"Well if you think about it... he was doing it to protect you in some sort... right?" I shrugged at his comment. I wouldn't let that be the truth.

He rolled his eyes and pulled me towards him, forcing me to face him. I pouted with caused him to shake his head, laughing. He kissed me softly on the forehead. "You're gonna be okay. Everyone's going to be okay."

"I'm not so sure-"

"Repeat what I say. Everyone is going to be okay."

"But-"

"Repeat!"

"Everyone is going to be okay," I grumbled.

"Close enough," he smiled. He pulled me into a kiss and I sighed a little, smiling.

I was starting to think that what he said was going to be true. What if... these supposed curses... what if they weren't even real.

I started to feel like I was waking up. In a new sort of sense. I sat up and left the bed going to the bathroom to wash my face. I heard the doorbell ring and I felt my heard drop a little.

Vylad was here... and possibly his girlfriend. I ran out of the bathroom, grabbing Laurance by the wrist, dragging him downstairs. I saw Vylad and a familiar looking girl from behind, holding hands. "Hey mom, dad! I want you to meet my girlfriend Fallen!"

"Fallen!?" I yelled. She turned her blonde head to see me and she smiled a little, looking bewildered.

"(Y/N)!? What are you doing here?"

"This is my house! That's my brother!" I pointed at Vylad. Her face looked slightly red and embarrassed.

"Oh... uh I... you have different last names!"

"I'm married!" I laughed.

"...right... I forgot," she looked embarrassed.

"Lilac! Zane!"

"Come down and see Vylad and his girlfriend!" I smiled almost a smirk actually. I heard pounding footsteps and Zane ran down right after Lilac, trying to keep up with her.

Vylad didn't look surprised in the slightest. I also took notice that Laurance's mother was awake now. While Lilac ran around entertaining everyone, I pulled Marie and Vylad aside. "Please don't tell me you're going to go all super big sister protectiveness or whatever!"

"Nope, I just need to say. Don't get married till you're out of school officially *cough*Fallen*cough*," she rolled her eyes, smiling, "and no kids until you're married! I already made that mistake," I whispered, jokingly.

"Well we've only been dating for... about a year now-"

"A year!? And you didn't tell me Vylad!?" I snapped.

"We promise to follow your guidelines (Y/N)," Fallen smiled, shaking her head.

"Always use protection," I laughed walking away. I turned to see both of them red from our conversation, I sat down next to Laurance.

"What'd you say?" He asked.

"Just... a few guidelines to having the "perfect relationship" Fallen daydreams about during work," I smiled. He squeezed my hand gently.

"Well hopefully they end up better than us," he snorted.

"We came up fine... unless she ends up being cursed or something too."

"Dear Irene I hope not. You're enough as it it," he sighed. I glared at him and he pecked me on the lips.

"Don't go there."

"I won't go there."

"Thank you."
