Z POV:
It was 3 AM when the War finally took place.
Daithi had taken watch; he smelled the fire thirty minutes before their plans were set.
Calibre had ran out to the field to see where they were located.
They weren't too far away, but they were camping.
He didn't know when they would attack, and luckily, he decided to wake me up.
I got dressed immediately and walked outside to the shed with Calibre.
I slid open the metal door and slipped inside.
Calibre followed.
I was grabbing an explosive crossbow off my hook when Lui started talking.
"Hey, Z." He began.
"Hey." I muttered.
"I've been thinking, this whole time I was in their missionary. They treated me pretty normal, but they aren't like our family. The nights weren't full of us all joking around in the kitchen with Tanner cooking. They were lonely and silent. I'd sit in my bed, across some stranger I didn't know, and I was still the loneliest person in the world. You were always on my mind. I missed you so much, I couldn't wait to escape. When I was sneaking over their fences, dodging under their walls, you were the only thing on my mind. You never left. And I was so stupid to treat you the way that I did, I'm so sorry."
I turned around and he was right beside me now, looking down at the ground.
I sighed and grabbed his hand.
"Calibre, I missed you too. When I thought you died, I was a mess." I almost started crying.
He nodded.
"I guess that's all I needed to say." He whispered, and turned to leave.
I stepped forward and stopped him by wrapping my arms around his waist, my lips pressed onto his back, his warm scent comforting me at last.
"Don't leave me again, baby boy." I whispered, close to tears.
And we stayed like that for a good while, memories of me and him as kids filling my head.
"Z, promise me after this that you'll become my partner." He mumbled.
I paused, my breath hot on his back.
Partners.
He'd wanted to be in the highest relationship known to an assassin.
It's like being an old married couple.
It's like being Evan to his Delirious, later on Mini to his Tyler.
Being deeply in love, shedding blood for one another.
I grabbed his hand, not being able to keep tears from flowing out of my eyes.
I wouldn't be able to be his partner, he wouldn't remember me after the War.
But I couldn't bring myself to say that I couldn't, so I lied to his face.
"I promise." I whispered, feeling hot tears slip.
I dried them in a hurry; I wasn't afraid to cry, I just didn't want to.
He turned around and kissed my lips, and I never wanted him to let go.
I didn't want him to fight, I didn't want to fight, I just wanted us to run away and live together, happily ever after.
But I knew that couldn't happen, everyone had a bright future ahead of them.
And I had to provide it for them.
In a hurry, me and Calibre grabbed our weapons and armor, changing into it, not even caring that each other was there, and rushed out of the shed, holding hands.Daithi POV:
I tried my hardest not to cringe when I saw Calibre holding her hand whenever they came out of that shed.
I just sent them on to get the others.Z POV:
"Tanner." I said, stepping into my mother's bedroom.
"Hmm?" She replied, rolling over.
"They've been spotted."
She didn't even ask who, she sat up immediately and started getting dressed.
I heard her curse under her breath as I closed the door to give her some privacy.
I rushed to Tyler's room and opened the door quietly.
"Mini, Ty?" I whispered.
**"What's wrong?" Tyler whispered, sitting up, half asleep.
"They've been spotted. They're camping, but still get ready." I told him.
He nodded.
"Help me wake up Craig."
I walked into the room, my combat boots loudly thumping onto the wooden floors.
"Look how cute he is asleep." I chuckled.
Tyler grinned. "I know right."
"Poor thing. He just kinda fell into all this mess, didn't he?" I whispered to Ty.
He sighed and nodded.
"I never even imagined he would be a part of me the way he is."
"Tyler, after this, our work is all done. What do we do then?" I asked.
He shrugged. "I'll marry him, have a family. Try and track down my Dad. If he is still alive, that is."
I put a hand on his shoulder.
"You never deserved to go through this, Ty." I mumbled.
He shook his head.
"I'm sure glad that I was. I would be lost without you guys."
"It's really a shame I lost my first family, but it was also a blessing because I got to have a brother like you." I smiled.
He grinned.
"I was a horrible brother."
I shook my head.
"Everyone has their moments. But you were still there for me. Yeah, sometimes you were a dick," I chuckled. "But you will always be my big brother."
He sighed and pulled me into a hug.
I hugged him tightly.
Who knows when I'd get to see the asshole again after this war.
We pulled way and walked over to wake up Craig.
"Mini," I whispered.
He didn't roll over or anything.
"It's usually hard to wake him up." Tyler whispered.
I grabbed a pillow and tossed it at Mini and it bounced off his back.
It didn't effect him.
Tyler leaned down and pinched his boyfriend's nose, causing his breathing to stop.
Mini smacked at Tyler's hand and himself up, his glare turning to me.
He let out a small gasp and almost fell off the bed.
I caught him by the arm and pulled him off the rest of the way.
He looked up at me.
"Craig, Tyler, meet me at the shed. I shall assemble the leaders and assassins-" I said firmly.
"The War has begun."
I walked out of the room.
Evan and Delirious were notified already, and I ran into them in the hallway.
Evan wasn't happy.
"Jonathan, please stay. Please." Evan was begging.
I walked through the kitchen and into the living room, waking up Marzia and Pewds.
Tyler was racing around the house, waking up all our new allies, and Craig was trying to pull Ohm out of bed.
He wouldn't wake up.
When everyone was done, they all headed to the shed.
Evan and Delirious took place near the fence post.
Daithi was beside them.
I was last to arrive, with Lui right on my tail.
Luke was at the shed waiting for him with the rest of the soldiers.
Vanoss and Delirious depended on me to prepare them.
They'd become the leaders, but they were aging, and I would supposedly be next in line.
Tanner was sitting down on a random block of cement, not too far from Delirious and Evan.
She smiled and nodded in approval as I stepped up to the soldiers to prepare them.
I took my crossbow off my back and raised it into the air as a sign for Rebellion.
The team cheered and howled and screamed in confidence, Tanner calmly smiling at all her boys.
I smiled and shrieked with them.
This act was a tradition passed on from assassin to assassin, symbolizing brotherhood and the importance of family.
Then when everyone was done, I gave a speech.
"My dear brothers and sisters, my friends, my family, my new siblings," I grinned.
"Today we begin the harst War. A War that has verbally went on for many, many years! But today we shall have the honor of fighting for our land, our beliefs, and our leadership. We will always be the number one gang in all of gangs, we will always raise to the top in victory!" They cheered again, Marzia holding the baby and raising its hands.
"And we worked hard for this title, we have to defend it! We shed sweat, tears, and blood for this one moment in history, The Assassin's Rebellion! I wish all of my fellow brothers and sisters good luck. Thank every one of you for everything, may it pay off in the end. Luck to all of you." I smiled, pulling a match out of my pocket and igniting my arrow.
Aiming at the gigantic flag that established peace, I let go of the arrow and watched the flag burn in flames.
Everyone got their weapons together as I whispered,
"And may the War begin."
