Chapter 6: CRFG- Columbus and Red Fox Group (Carter Edwards)
We'd done it! We were in. I had tricked that sheriff into thinking I was Billy Rendo, and Vincent was Shane Polk. We were in our apartment which looked like an old sewing store. They used the shelves to make rooms. Vincent, I mean Shane, and I have to share a room. There was a bucket and two pieces of fabric with a fabric bulk on top. After we settled in a man came by.
He asked, "There are two shower days a week, Saturday and Sunday. What day do you want?"
"Saturday," I replied.
He laid down two washcloths and two bars of soap.
"6:00 to 6:30 on Saturdays," he said and walked away.
Vincent and I fell asleep at some point. We woke up to knocks on our room.
A lady walked in and said, "Good morning boys. As part as your contract, all people 12 to 60 must work. The Job Center is at the old check-out here."
In the night we'd been brought a bucket of water and two plastic cups. There was a note attached that read, "One bucket per week." I drank a cup. It was time for Columbus.
