Chapter 5: CRFG- Columbus and Red Fox Group (Sheriff Jones)
I loved the sun rise in Columbus. The rays coming up over the Columbus Park Shopping Center in North Columbus. I walked into North Columbus Bakery. I ordered my usual from Susan, two powdered doughnuts and a cup of coffee. I got a paper labeled July 24, 2008. The top story was "Law Inforced: All Civilians to have One Gun." Under that was the "SOSP" or "Shoot on Sight Protocol."
My walkie talkie came on, "Sheriff Jones, we got a 2030, over."
A 2030 was refugees wanting to come in.
"Let them in. I'll be down there in a minute," I said.
I left the bakery and walked down to the Police Station or what used to be a video game store. I walked into the Interrogation Room or a storage closet. I went through the regular procedure asking names, relationship, former towns or camps, and any other information they had. Their names were Billy Rendo and Shane Polk. They were friends. They had been in one camp in the north. I granted them I.D.'s and showed them to the Apartments. Another two lives saved. Sheriff Jones had done it again.
I walked to the police radio and said, "This is Sheriff Jones on Channel 109.4 checking in with Red Fox, over."
"This is Sheriff Tenser of Red Fox. We've go two escapees by the names of Carter Edwards and Vincent Faller, if you find them arrest them, over," they replied.
"Will do, over," I said.
