Chapter 19: TMS- The Mix Squad (Carter Edwards)
It was house after house. The traveling was terrible. Vincent slept most of the time. His burns were starting to scar over. He had no control of himself. When he was awake he couldn't do much. Christy was strong after Benjamin died. I still heard her weep in her room. Between Vincent and Peter we running out of diapers. Peter was now 14 months old. Elena was trying to find stuff for him to eat but it was hard. We were driving along and saw a sign saying, "GEORGIA STATE LINE." We were back in home territory. A few hours later we entered Atlanta. Along the highway we stopped at a tent. A man stepped out.
"Need a lift?" I asked.
"Sure," he said.
I asked him,"What's your name?"
"I'm Jacob Edenfield," he replied.
We started on our way to the airport. We could probably hold down a camp for a while there. We finally stopped at the Atlanta Airport. There were surprisingly not as many biters as I had suspected. Elena and I lifted Vincent and carried him. Christy got Peter. We entered through a side door. There must have been a camp before because there were barriers, guns, and bullet shells. We climbed over the barrier to find ourselves face to face with rifles.
"General we got some looters," one of them said through a walkie talkie.
"Sir, let me explain," Elena said.
He looked at the other guy and said to Elena,"You've got five minutes."
We laid down Vincent. He walked her over to a separate corner.
A few minutes later they came back and he said, "Come with me."
We followed him through lots of military people. We got on a plane. I looked up and standing in front of me was my father.
